haha maybe everyone just went to bed at once. I see what your saying about the end result being the same, I have had the same thought, but I don't think this is true. I see a lot of plants where the main cola towers way up above the rest of the growth. This cola gets great lighting but the lower buds are small mainly because they received poor lighting. When you top a plant you get 2,4,6, even 8 even colas that you can keep as close to the light as the one main cola would've been, so there is more plant growing in optimum lighting IMO. The 8 colas are denser than the buds you would've harvested from low down on an untrained plant. What you are saying though would probably be true in an outdoor grow, where the sun easily hits the entire plant all day everyday.

There's also the people that chop their colas when they're ready, then drop the lights to help form up the lower buds.
