That's basically 30". That's a pretty big difference lol. I can see it now. Does the 1 fan adequately cool them? Are the heatsinks bases quite thick???
Not as I wanted, but it was the best thing available for the cheap price my friend got for the bars. My project was for a thicker profile, but he wanted price over passive...

Right on. So they'd be a lot better off with 2 fans? I use 36" x 5.886" bars with the same 4 cxb3590's @1.75a and have 2 140mm fans on mine. It stays exceptionally cool, but I can imagine yours must be kinda hot to the touch on the ends at least.

In hotter days, for sure. The next upgrade to 6 cobs per bar would keep things cooler definitely.

Same length, zero fans 6 COBS @ 1400mA. I run this exact heatsink profile with passive cooling.
Dude no way. 29.5" 6", 6cobs @ 1.4ma no fans? That is gonna get SO HOT. I've built thick heavy duty 48"(4') bars with just 3 cxb3070's @2.1A and it gets too hot to touch. Well above 135*F. You will regret doing this man. You gotta add multiple fans if you plan on 300watts on a 29.5" bar. Passive isn't feesible.

I will upload some images later of this exact setup, no fans. Get my IR gun to show. This baby has a solid 10mm base, I run this setup most of the year without any active cooling. Granted i have a big ass fan blowing above the bars, so is not "that" passive. On summer days I run one F12 per bar of 300W my 4x8 setup with 1200w @ 80% and it will keep outside temps inside. No shit brow.

Well fuck, a 10mm base explains it. Same heatsinks you got for cheap that you used on your operation?

No, I had to get it for a different project I will post later, so got two extra pairs for myself.
They are so much denser and heavy as fuck. 2,5 feet is about 20 pounds.

This is a setup using this same heatsink. Passive too... 1400mA
Just a oscillating fan blowing on top of them.

They are supplied in 10 feet bars also but I can't get them in stock for ages.
I had to saw that shit brow. Not cool.

Ya. Ouch. Haha where'd you get? I'd like to get my hands in that size for cheap. Heatsink usa has that profile, itz just ridiculously expensive.

Very nice setup. Modular, upgradeable, should provide a good infrastructure for a long time.

Some things to think about:

Ditch the reflectors. It might sound counter intuitive since you are trying to focus the light on an area but with many discrete light sources, it is often better to achieve intensity through overlap. The reason why? Light coming in from more diverse angles will reach more areas of the plant. Considering that plants apparently only use 1/5th (or ~400 umoles) of the light energy in the PAR spectrum from sunlight, increasing uniformity at the expense of intensity may be more beneficial.

That falls into another suggestion of implementing wall lighting and leveraging a vertical approach to increase light to all areas of the plant. Getting the wall lighting tuned to provide ~400umoles for the bottom 2/3rds of the plants will engage more of the plant. With your current deployment, you could even just take half of your emitters and wall mount them and still get better results. Or, if you wanted to stay in the same power envelope, add more emitters that are driven in parallel off existing runs.

Get a par meter (licor, Apogee, Hydrofarm, etc) to test your lighting. Balancing available light power over the total growing area (both horizontal and vertical) is an important factor to improve plant growth and a must to improve electrical efficiency.
