Custom Double Cooled Hood Tube

My objective is to create a double air cooling hood to reduce canopy level heat even more than standard hoods.
Essentially, I want to put the cool tube style inside the air cooled hood style.. and then drill 4 new 4 inch holes, 2 on each duct side and independantly air cool the hood from the cool tube creating 2 diffent cooling mechanisms.
How much more heat do you think this will reduce above the plant canopy?
How much lower will I be able to lower my light?
Would this significantly help with MH?
Let me know what you think!!
I photochopped the basic concept below:

Personally I think going threw 2 plains of glass will lower your lumens and mess with proper spectrum of the light. Making what you just gained by lowering the light minamal at best. But that is IMO. But give it a try if you want. But think just pulling more cfm or adding heat exchangers would be a better idea.

good point.... risk/reward give/take
the whole point of this thread is to decide whether it would be worth the effort to do it
my thoughts were geared mostly toward metal halide
..would like to hear some more

Hay I'm all for it. Who knows it might be the next big thing. But I would fab up something so it uses the same duct. Having to get 2 fans for 1 light will suck. Something like a straight shot for the tube and a addapter for the 2 4" going to a 6"-8" duct. 1 fan 2 ways to cool and only needing 1 duct. Just an idea I came up with. People are cheep so if your thinking of selling this keep that in mind. Best of luck.

I think you'd be better off just increasing the CFM air-transfer rate through the internal cool tube.

And no matter how much heat you reduce by convection (blowing air), the bulb is still going to give off some heat by radiation.

i was planning on trying for 1 duct the whole time via splitters, basically just like u said
wasnt looking to sell it at all btw
my goal and hope is to eliminate almost all heat so I can put a 1Kw MH in a 4x4 tent as close to the plant tops as possible
there's no doubt in my mind that it would cooler this way thawn without, the question is.. would the double glass would be a huge negative??
anybody got an input

There is a lumen test the shows the drop in different glass. I just can't find it now. But lumens aren't what the plants need. As long as the spectrum and PAR rating arnt affected to bad you should be in good shape. And a 1000 in a 4x4 is still going to put off alot of radiant heat.

ive also looked into water cooling and have heard it reduces 10% of light, not sure how true that is

Talk to scooby on that. Find his thread in this section. Water cooled rooms. He can tell you everything about water cooling. But read thru it a little first. Your answers might be there. Good luck and welcome to RIU
