I have a large pickel jar i'd like to use for curing, but won't be filling just yet as my plants are finishing at different times, is it ok to cure when it's only say 1/4 full??

or should i just get a pint size one that would be full??

thanks,

should i leave the bigger stems on the buds as they dry or should i go ahead and cut them to popcorn type size and ditch the stems?

Personal prefrence, I guess? One way will dry faster than the other in the jar. Slower the dry, the better IMO.

If you did everything right? It shouldn't last very long anyway......right? LOL

i dry my buds out and put most of it in jars but i dont like waitning so i take a glad bowl spray the buds put the top on it get a desk light real close so the inside of the glad bowl stays moist from heat i flip the buds like every 4 hours or more id say the next day u take out let it air a bit ... i use this method and my buds still come out the same way u would cure in jar and it keeps its smell, looks, taste, and weight ..and smokes great.but thats if your in a hurry ....

I don't know the answer to that one. I go half to 3/4 while burping and full as I can without smashing the bud in the final 3 weeks. I would even like to pull a vaccum to reduce the air in the jars that much more. I keep reading air is bad when cureing but don't know why.

Oxygen and light degrade thc during the drying, curing, and storing process. Same thing with too much heat. Get yourself some smaller jars.

For my curing, I will dry the buds a couple of days, then put them in large plastice bags. They will then sweat their moisture, open up the bags till they are crisp again, and keep repeating. Once they stop getting pliable again, chop them off the stems and put them in jars. Most likely you will still get some sweating in the jars because their are air tight and the bags were not.

What is the reason for burping?
Im considering using vacume sealing containers, would it still be necessary for me to burp them?

I hang dry, till dry to the touch. Then jar. Over the fist few days I get moisture in the jar. so I burp the jar. Once the moisture is gone I seal them and put them away for a few weeks.

And just a tip, plastic will "steal" trichomes from your buds. This is because of the static charge and its impossible to get rid of. Use glass jars to ensure the best buds.

if your worried about oxygen degrading your curing buds, go buy a bag a jerky, it comes with a little thing of oxygen absorber in it, toss it in your jar :)

You sure thats an "oxygen absorber" and not a silica packet made to absorb moisture? I know many products come with the silica packets but those are for moisture and not oxygen. I may be wrong, but I am guessing thats what they are.

My vacume container is glass but have plastic lids assuming the lid does have a static charge, if the buds aren't touching the lid will it still make a difference?
