i dont think your allowed to grow tobacco.....i wouldnt fuck with it
no, the link i just posted has to do with marijuana and hops being in the same family. it was mentioned that someone once grafted a hops plant onto the root ball of a marijuana plant in order to create a hybrid that will look like hops but have the psychoactive effects of marijuana. unfortunately it was only a brief mention with no links or further explanation of the study. it is interesting none the less.

people can put jellyfish dna into a rabbit, and make it glow in the dark,or insert bacteria dna into corn to make it ammune to many deseases.it,s only a matter of time before we can mix anything with anything

they might be able to alter dna or genetics but graphting is just getting a cut from 1 plant to grow from another

No, marijauna and tobacco have different amounts of chromosomes and all their genetic information is different. Firstly the two gametes from either of the plants will not join together and multiply. Then secondly, if anything did multiply or join, is would probably die early on, or be one retarded plant with no wanted properties from either of the plants ( i.e cannabinoids or nicotine or whatever in tabaco ) It would have to be done at a genetic level and would be disgustingly difficult, im not gonna say impossible but PRETTY MUCH

but it would be cool to be able to graft a blueberry plant onto a marijuana root ball and have blueberrys that fuck you up.

by the way, i am eating massive amounts of blueberries because they are good for the brain!!! did i tell you i was eating massive amounts of blueberries cause they were could for the brain, they help you remember..

see, what i mean.

Even if you could do it,the genetics wouldn't be carried over to seed.(if i'm not mistaken ,you can make a donkey, but it's infertile)

I hope you're not in favor of genetic modification to marijuana.. that would deserve a -rep by itself.

If it gets legalized someday we may just see that - GMO marijuana seeds from monsantos. There would be enough money in it for them to do it.

A horrifying thought.. yet, what is even more scary, is that Monsanto patents all of their seeds, so some pollen from their plants lands in your field, they own your field.

That is the most ridiculous statement I have seen all day.

I dont think any of you realize the amount of things that we can do with genetics these days - take for example, the very popular tobacco-firefly cross, making a glowing tobacco plant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Glowing_tobacco_plant.jpg
Or, the rabbit crossed with a jellyfish, named Alba : http://sciencechicagoblog.com/2008/10/08/
not only can u cross different species, but also plant/animal combinations, by transport of a genome
Yup, its because when it comes down to it, genetic makeup of everything is just the same...Just applied in diffferent ways, from a fish to a human and a beetle...

Which part? Monsanto has patents on all of their current crops that are geneically modified to be resistant to Roundup. Since they have a patent, if any of their genetics can be proven to be found in someone else's field/farm, it is a patent violation and Monsanto has the power to sue and/or take their land. Read up if you do not believe me.

I am referring to the second part which is slightly different from the description you posted.^^^

That is what I'd like to do some reading on. Enlighten me. Better yet point me to the source and I'll enlighten myself.

Show me by what authority Monsato Corp. has the power to seize property from the owner when stray pollen lands in a field.

Show me when this exact scenario has occurred. When the wind carried Monsato pollen to a random field and they seized the land on that basis alone.

Show me.

I did see something on tv about that monsanto shit. They actually either sued, seized or took control of farmers property because their pollen migrated some poor farmers field. They made it look like they stole from monsanto. I guess because the wind blew in that direction it was the farmers fault. Lifetime farmers of 30+ years are either in a lawsuit or settled losing their lifetime of work & their property. Looks like another case of big brother taking care of big brother to me.
