Critical Jack Vs. Critical+ (Dinafem)

<Day 52>

Things are going well now, bud production is comming along nicely and at this rate I'm heading for a decent yeild of nice round buds, some of which are now getting huge. If I wasnt having problems posting pictures I would do a pheno rundown at this stage but as I say I'm having trouble with the uploading over the last week or so. Smell is very strong now, a tangy fruity smell that my scrubber cannot completley remove.

Folks its really annoyying me - anyone know why when I upload pictures they just attach as thumbnails? I like to make them fullsize and over the last week or so I have been unable.

Have you tried taking your air scrubber down and 'shaking' it? It will help sometimes because they can get sort of clogged, moving it a bit may move the carbon around a bit and help it to remove the smells a little more efficiently.. or it may be time to get a new one (it's sure time for me to get a new one, I smoke inside so my filters only last for 1/2 the usually amount of time.)

No I havent tried that, now you mention it my scrubber may be heading towards the end of it's lifespan. The scrubber said it had a 12month lifespan but I know that is probs rubbish and I guaged it at more like 6months. Its probs seen 5months of action and I do smoke the odd joint in bed next to my setup so it could be lowering its life. I'll give it shake and see if it helps, worth a try as I cant afford a new one atm. Once again cheers for the good tip!

Ha! I think shaking it about has actually made a difference. Nice one! I'm always carefull with my gear, never thought to give it a good rattle :)

Hahaha, awesome! I'm glad to have been of service to ya. I'm very careful and particular about my gear as well... I thought of that a long time ago when I got my very 1st carbon filter, when it came out of the box I noticed it had a little rattle already; so ever since, every once in a while I'll take mine down and rattle 'em a bit.. seems to "refresh" 'em a little.

Those CJ and C+ look REALLY tasty! I'm running some Dinafem WW, and would definitely consider more genetics form them. Updates? Crunch*

I stand firmly behind Dinafem's genetics, hope your WW tuns out awesome. I'll wait for lights out in a few hours and post then when I can take photos without the HPS on - still dont have the DSLR unfortunatley, its needed elsewhere :(

<Day 56>

C+ is 9 days from harvest now and is unfortunately looking to be the lowest yielder. Will be curious to see what the bud density is like. The CJs are 14days away and are powering on to produce some really fat buds. I'm happy with their performance at this point and due to the heavy yellowing I'm withholding flushing untill 7days before harvest. A bonus of the leaf loss is the lower regions of teh plant are pretty much in direct HPS light for the last week or so.

The smell is awesome, cant wait to get my chops round a nice big joint post-curing.

Interesting. Growing out a White Widow Auto (Dinafem) that is Critical+ X White Widow. Seed popped in 2 days and is cranking in a 5-gallon DWC. Impressive. Yours are nice and give me some extra hope!

Quite a few folk are being drawn to their WW auto, heard good things about it. I've grown Dinafem strains a few times next to other breeders and so far the Dina seeds have always been the most vigorous, particuarly with the autos.

I find it quite interesting that Dinafem's WW auto has been crossed with Critical+ auto as opposed to their roadrunner (I think its roadrunner they often use in their autos to induce the autoflower function).

Yea, Critical+ has been introduced to many strains since it came out.. it really is a weight maker.

Yeah I would have thought Critical+ brings higher production to a strain, can see what you mean. What I find particuarly interesting is how my Critical+ is yeilding less than my CJs. In the case of Critical Jack Auto they say on their website

'Genotype: Critical + x Jack Herer ( Sensi Seed Bank )'

So it turns out that my CJ autos are one of these crosses that must use the Critical+ auto to introduce the autoflower mechanism. It seems to me that by using a Critical+ parent they have actually managed to amplify its yeilding potential even further than the origional Critical+ itself. I can just see it from observation but they also say as much in the strain description.

I hope to see the weaker aspects of autos filtered out over the comming years, in the way that breeders progress with their parent selection and isolate the needed autoflowering tendancies. Before long I think we will start to see autos rivaling photoperiods for real.

Anyone know what I can do? I have a critical Jack that won't stop growing I transplanted four days agofrom just a 2 or less gallon into a four and the roots are coming out the bottom of the four already. This thing grew 3 inches in two days it's 29 inches from soil to top.

Hey man, I just wanted to let you know I'm flowering 2 2nd generation C+ clones (photoperiod/femiinized) under H.P.S. as well. When I'm finished I will get a journal together and let you know. Only 3 weeks flowering, so far just pistils & baby calyxes are forming little hair balls hahaha.

Sounds pretty normal to me, Critical Jack is by far the most vigorous thing I've ever grown. It outperformed the Critical+ for the first few weeks. You can expect an inch of vertical growth per day for a couple of weeks in veg. Sidbranches aswell.
