Cool tube vs. octogon open reflector

Here's my delema, I was growing with the cooltubes for a while, but then someone told me that I wasn't giving my girls enough light and that I should use the open shades. I decided to give it a try and did a crop with the open one. Thee crop with the open yielded more than the cooltube, but I had massive problems with heat being up to 100f, and mite problems and lots of heat stress, with the tube my yield was low, the buds were tiny amd loose, in both I used 1000w hps, same food, and 13 plants, both were topped. Yield is important to me, anyone know y this is happening?

Direct sun light = lots of thermal load, which = a hot ass room
How about some pics of your setup?
You need to have good ventelation.
Maybe a portable AC, high temps make lighter buds, so get your temp down to 75-78 for best.

you had an inefficient reflector over the cooltube and the light wasnt being distributed right. with a proper reflector a cool tube or aircooled reflector should out perform an open reflector because you can get your lights closer due to the colled lighting.

I think ur right nick, thx, I was also thinking is 13+ plants too many for a 1000w bulb? Like my set up is in a 6' x 12' room with lights 2 ft away from eachother using cool tubes, and are 3 ft away from the wall exactly in the middle of the room, and I have 10 rows of 4 plants, totaling 40 plants topped and 2 ft high, can the cool tubes handle this?

Ohh I misunderstood I thought u were talking about opening a windows and letting sun in, I really need to get high today damn

cool tubes are the shit use light movers, with 1000w hps cool tube on a mover in a 10x10 room with 20 plant i yeilded 1.5 lbs more over previous set-up with a vertisontal hood, do u use mylar or white walls i find white walls to be the best route
