Complex problem!!!

Ok I am having a little problem. I live in a house owned by my family which I rent out to people. My parents live overseas, they come back rarely but sometimes do. I am also a Botany study in college, not my major. Anyway, What I am trying to do is setup a system where I can stealthily grow weed indoors, but grow other plants that are similar to marijuana(growing conditions and lighting, not looks) so that I can justify buying all the supplies, I am also considering building a greenhouse in the back but that would be for non-mj plants.

I primarily wanted to grow a cfl setup, possibly aero, hydro setup. At as minimal of cost as possible, but also be stealth enough. I have an area in my walk-in closet that I want to use for growing. It is 9ft 4in by 4ft even. This is a closet that has a hanging pole at about 5.5 ft tall and have two shelves above it they are about 13inches apart.

You know grow fresh tomatoes, peppers, etc. and give them to my cop neighbor . hahaha. That way he wouldnt second guess , if he sees me bring in fertilizers, growing equipment etc.




I am not sure if we have any botanists in here but I was just wondering, or if some people could help point me in the right direction.

I wouldn't ever let a cop see me bring shit into the house. Can you not drive into a garage or find another way to bring things in so nobody can see a thing? Maybe you should go hydro with only reuseable stuff so you don't have to be carrying rootballs out and dirt in and so forth.

If I were you I wouldn't grow in anything that wasn't extremely stealthy and that locks. How big a grow do you want and how much trouble are you willing to go through to make it perfectly stealthy and locking?

Right now I'm building a grow cabinet out of a full size upright coin-op arcade game cabinet. It'll be a working game with a laptop hidden in the top and a lcd screen on the front and even with 100 people in the same room with it nobody would be able to tell what's up on the inside. They normally put out a little heat and noise and have some fans so as long as it has a carbon filter and is sealed for light leaks you'd be good.

And it's secure as hell the way they lock up.

There's more space inside them than you might think. Or you could just do a locking regular cabinet like others do in a garage or whatever as long as it doesn't look out of place or have suspicious noise and heat that's noticeable.

Another idea would be to find the biggest old rear projection TV you could find and gut that. They were made up to 72" diagonal and over 6' tall. But again a TV that appears to be off shouldn't have fan noise and so much heat coming out and trying to make it lock and seal it up won't be simple.

Either way grow whatever you like in your closet, but I'd do the weed somewhere else that nobody will EVER be able to see. People will want to see the other stuff you're growing in the closet won't they?

you in a state with medical?! if so, get one!

i'm using soil in a smaller closet than that, in all it took maybe 800 for me to set up right, i'm sure you could do it for less but i'm medical now and bought an HPS, i'm using soil and not too much expensive shit.

Yes well if I lived in a medical state I would have gotten a card a LONG time ago. I would then obviously not have to worry about stealth. But that isnt the case. In fact I live in a state were it is pretty strict.

When I say stealth I mean, I want to smells etc. Which require me to build a carbon filter and possibly some other things. And yes someone might want to see what I am growing, but I dont have to show them shit. I am the landlord of this property, and I have the Master bedroom. I generally will not let anyone in past my bedroom. My bathroom and closet are offlimits. Closet is through the bathroom btw. And there are locks on my door, the bathroom door and my closet door. I did that on purpose. It would be stupid for me to put a tv or arcade thing in my closet.

I am not lookign for it to be hidden. I plan on growing other things also but no one else really will see that. The only issue is if my dad comes back to the US for a couple days. And I can plan around this, in growing. Thats why I dont see it as a huge problem.The only thing I might need is some way of destroying or removing any evidence in case of unlawful search. I have plans for that though.

I might build a grow cabinet but i just finished renovations to this house, as you can see from the extra drywall, and I have no desire to build any complex hidden system yet. Nor do I have the money to support such a complex hiding spot. In the future yes but at the moment no.

What I want is to be able to produce a consistent crop, I think its called a perpetual harvest. I want to be able to have at minimum 6 plants. As you can see from my space that is very do able.

And yes I do have a garage that I could pull into. Thats not a problem.

Would definitely go with the closet then, works fine for me, built a little table for them to sit on...hung the light from the bar that goes across to hang clothes on..not having any problems, and this 400w hid is heavy! Only thing is the heat, in my case I do not have to hide, I leave the door cracked and a fan blowing in plus a small fan blowing across the plants.

IF you can do your own remodeling and you are the landlord and your area is off limits then fine. Maybe you can just use a little of your remodeling skills to turn your closet into a hidden space. Disguise the door?

I don't get the part you say about unlawful search.

yea man sounds like you've got it all planned out and the residence will work out real well for ya, just watch out for the parents when they roll through. yea a carbon filter is definitely in order, listen to these other guys cause i'm growing in a 2.5 by 3.5 closet with 5 ladies and just started to flower 2 days ago, and it was stinkin when they were in veg! so definitely that should be a concern. otherwise there's the buzz of the lights and the wires, and the air flow ~ i can keep my closet door cracked pretty much all the time, so look into those the FAQ here is wonderfully helpful.

haha Well the unlawful search bit is about the state of my house. Because I am renting out the property to other people there could be a problem. Example, on of my "housemate/ tenants has a little party" gets out of hand cops called. Someone has something they arent supposed to have and then the cop has a reason to come in the house. Now granted according to search and seizure laws they are not allow to search multiple units in a multi family dwelling. But they wouldnt know that when they knock on the door.

I am 20 years old and get disrespeced by older adults because they dont believe me about my accomplishments or job status. Example, I am vice-president of my family company but im 20 and people simply ignore or treat me like a lower class.

Only an unethical, and manipulative police officer would do something like an unlawful search, but then there would be a lawsuit, but if he found something then it wouldn look good for me.

I am not going to hide my closet. My dad knows I have one.haha I dont have a problem with having an indoor setup to grow mint, and other vegtables inside. I primarily want to grow mint in the same room so that it will help kill the smell a little. Also I am probably going to be running a CFL setup as I mentioned before. Simply, because it is cheaper(elec, heat issues) less dangerous, accessible.

The idea is hiding in plain sight. The cultivation of other things gives me excuses as to why I have all this equipment etc. Then if there is an issue all I have to move or hide are the plants themselves and not EVERYthing. See where I am coming from with this. Plus I am a botany student another excuse. I am trying to cover as many bases as possible.

Have you considered that since you've taken botany, your parents may already have taken the clue that you smoke weed? lol. Just a thought. I know lots of parents that look at marijane the way it should be, like a plant.

I dunno man. Maybe just make a grow box, lock the shit out of it and if anyone asks, its an experiment. If anyone wants details go into a long boring tyraid about how interesting botany is because...you can splice watermelon with cucumbers and blah blah blah until you walk them out of the room.

Its locked cause its kinda secret and is to be in a near PERFECT environment undisturbed by constantly opening the box etc.

As a non-botanist, I think this would work on me. Whos going to force you to open the box?

HAHA my parents dont know. I dont discuss school with my parents at all really. They rode my ass in high school and I pretty much told them its my business now as an adult I can handle it I dont need them looking over my shoulder. My mom knows my sister smokes, but has no idea I do. Even though I have been smoking for 9 years now.

Thanks devknob you make a vaild point. But I kinda want to grow more than a little grow box, but I might start off that way and work up. And yeah I could bore the shit out of someone by spewing out the loooooong scientific names for the plants. And crack open my book till their interest faded.

I will be making a journal of this once I start from the beginning, including construction(if any). I finally found my camera yay.

I was just looking for ideas on the setup and orientation of my equipment for it. I think I have enough info though with the two books I have and the volumes of info online, to be able to design a decent setup. Ill post more once I have drawn it all out on paper and started. um dude you must be really high right now because there are No plants in the pictures. There are a few books with marijuana plants on them. but no plants, unfortunately.

lol. I got a friend thats a botanist. It does get very technical, more technical than I could understand, a computer programmer lol. O and he is actually doing the cucumber/watermelon. The watermelon you can just bite into.

FYI - Grow boxes can be made any size =) Mine is 4x4 and 6 ft high. Im doing this lo-pro in an apartment complex. I bring big equipment in at like midnight. Somebody found out I was getting a bunch of wood in my circle of friends, and my friend in-the-know told them I was building a chicken coup in my apartment. People will buy anything. We later spun that FOX style and told them I was building shelves for some single mother I met out having a smoke. People will buy anything, when it comes to the sanctity of your grow, just make up a good set of lies, and know them before hand. lol god that sounds bad.

Yeah I was born a bullshiter I can do it to anyone. Believe me I got that. The botany is pretty cool. Im mainly taking to to get a better grasp of the ideas behind growing. Hopefully come up with something good.
