Columbian Gold Harvest - Finally!

I finally harvest my one Columbian Gold plant today, after nearly 12 weeks in flower. Here's a pic of the main cola which weighed at 4.5 oz wet, so I'm hoping for about an oz dry. The rest of the plant has a lot of very heavy, dense slightly smaller buds. I grew it in hopes that it would be like the the columbian gold I used to know, back in the "old" days. :)cg main cola.JPG

Weird, I assumed old strains like this would be low THC.
That might be right, the breeder info says 19% THC on this. Not super high, but not really super low either. I have tried it yet, so I'll have to wait and see. What I can say is that it was packed with dense good sized buds. I'm looking forward to the sampling :)

i remember the CG from the old days too, some of the best stuff i've ever had
impressed with the pic, there are some gold/yellow highlights in there
as i understand it, the breeding involved some outcrossing with more indica strains
then some breeding tricks/choices to get a closer representation to the original strain
much envy with whatt i'm seeing, love to hear the smoke report

Thanks :) It's hard being patient...I'm keeping my expectations low, because nothing ever seems to be as great as I remember it. Or hardly anything, anyway...:)

Pure Lumbo would take about 20 to 24 weeks to flower. They crossed that with afghani but it might be great smoke.

I remember Lumbo and was pleased with Panama Red from ACE. The PR smokes like a really good South American sativa from the 70's. They bred this PR to flower in 12 to 13 weeks and be indoor friendly.

The best sativas from 70's were in the low 20% for thc. In other words they had plenty of punch and due to long flowering times and genetics, they were trippy as hell. Not glue you to the couch and high gone in 1 hour.

I remember the 70s - vaguely. :) It all seemed great then; Columbian Gold, Thai Sticks, Mexican from Michuacan...and all the nameless varieties. But, it's a lot more fun to grown it yourself!

Hey PoodleBud,

I'm currently growing the WOS CG. I'm at almost 9 weeks, and there are still white hairs everywhere. It will probably go about 12 weeks as well. Do you have a journal for that grow?

I don't. It was a bit of an experiment. Mine went for 12 weeks in flower, but could probably have gone another week more. Mine got very top heavy and the large buds had to be individually supported with stakes and string. How 'bout yours?

I wish mine was TOP HEAVY. I only veg'd it for a little over 5 weeks. I topped it, and ended up with 4 tall colas and several little colas. However, it has clusters of trichs on it, and its very frosty. I will probably let it go another 1-2 weeks.

Here is a link to my journal. I also have one here, but its not updated.

Man........ I haven't seen good colombian since about the 1980's and it used to come in those little yellow envelopes for $5..... The shit would be the brownest skeleton bud you ever saw that was just full of seeds, ... however, on those occasions when it was really hard to find good weed or any at all, this would be available in some quantity..
