do you have any sources? i find it hard to believe this completely.
Dude, you'll be fine with the blue lights, you want mainly blue light for your plant during vegitation, you should get a lightbulb thats 5000k or above, if you plan on using 13w bulbs your probably gonna need at least 10 to get your plant a nice size. Also, any light thats emitted from around 3700k-5000k is mainly in the green spectrum, the spectrum that plants dont use, thats why they grow green to repel the light. You need 5000k+ for Vegitation, and 3000k- for flowering! make sure you use plenty of light my friend. Good luck!
I've also heard that if you're putting your plants onto 18/6 and you need to go into your growroom during dark hours, then you are best off using a green spectrum light because it doesnt affect the plant at all. I'm not sure about this as my plants run on 24/0 so I can enter whenever I like.

blue colored lights are not the same as blue spectrum lights. as TohToh explained above, although I use 6500k for veg and 2700k for flower, these ratings are the spectrum.
to answer your question..NO you cannot grow with the colored lights, you'll be wasting electricity and space.

Green does not effect the growth any other color will probably trigger it.. but i know for sure green does not wake the plant or even bothers it. and having green lights... i find it hard to see anyways lol.

The 13 watt blue CFL actually does outpreform the high end 23 watt 6000K CFL by quite a margin at the same distance from the plant. The CFL dosn't really filter out much light either. If you toutch the CFL bulb its only about 75 deg. F. So, although I haven't grown any plant big enough to test it, I'd wager that I could let the foliage rub against it all it wants and I wouldn't get any wilt.

No it won't..... The green light will reflect right off the green surface. In fact, the reason a leaf appears green to the human eye is because all colors but green are absorbed by the plant. It reflects green light, therefore your eyes, seeing that reflected wavelength, see a green leaf. Simple biology.

Actually it depends on the Bulb. A Cfl painted green does leak some light. They also create radiant heat which can be registered to the plant. I'm saying useful to check briefly, but I never run it for more than a couple minutes. There are a true green, but those painted bulbs do let some light through.

Sorry to dig up an ancient thread, but I have been running a 13w green CFL for the entire time of my grow and so far there seems to be no negative effect. It is on during night hours and daylight hours. I have it this way so that when I enter my garden (which is frequently when it is dark) I can work. Like most on here, I thought it was scientifically impossible for green light to be absorbed by the plants enough to register as light it is looking for. Even if the bulb is painted, if it is only emitting green light, unless the paint is significantly chipped or scratched it shouldn't cause symptoms of light leak.

I have been growing with "daylight" cfls. They work very well. I know that the plants need day light, but they also grow better in the lower end of the light spectrum being blue. So I added two blue cfls to the grow room a few days ago. I belive I have had about a 20% growth in just 3 days. I wish I would have put them in sooner!. In the budding room I placed to red ones. as in the blooming stage the plants prefer the other end of the spectrum. Trying to imatate late summer sun. If its anything like the adition of the blue bulbs, these girls are realy going to take off!
