glad im not the only one with this viewpoint.
it benefits the most amount of people by simply legalizing it and selling it/paying taxes so everyone wins. smokers win. the gov't wins (taxes to pay down the debt), etc.
theres very little downside to legal marijuana

It means you can still get cheaper weed from the shifty looking guy on the corner. But now you'll get charged with serious tax evasion for not buying weed with a tax stamp. That's why I was against this in California in 08.

Really, you think that's all it's gonna take to bust you? The word of a convicted drug dealer? He says "yea I sold $x amount to him" and somehow you automatically owe the irs money?
I cheated the state out of far more than $900. I have sold more than $900 to my patients in the last few months and not a single penny is going to taxes.
Nothing is going to change. Weed will still be available on the black market. I guarantee it. If my state voted it legal and started selling $900 ounces you bet your ass I would be selling some on the black market for less.

Supply and demand will keep this product cheap. a 25% tax will be nothing when it's dollars per pound. I am playing 100 per ounce now. It will be way cheaper after every state is done. If you read 900 per ounce and you think it's true then you're an idiot. these laws aren't sent in stone. this is the 1st move in the game of legal weed. Everything changes a few years more and it will be much better.

hospitals have started hiring and firing people for smoking cigarettes. if you still somke you have to be OFF the hospital campus to do so. IN your car doesn't count. Right to work states can hire and fire you for any reason not covered under EOE act. So even after pot is 100% legal companies will be able to hire and fire you based on what they want.

I have a unique question. I live in a medical state. I have a medical card. Here's the problem. We have 8,059 medical cannabis recipients in New Mexico (and growing). We have about 25 producers. They're only allowed to grow 99 plants. The Department of Health is refusing to allow any more producers. You don't even have to do the math realize there isn't enough to go around. It's on a first come, first served basis. Some producers have restricted selling cannabis only to locals. This creates a larger burden on the rest of the producers trying to supply the entire state. We pay delivery fees on top of price of product plus tax.
I live about an hour from Durango, Colorado. Once they start selling cannabis legally it will be available to anyone with an I.D. Here's the question: Since New Mexico is a medical state and Colorado is a legalized/medical state, would I get in trouble for purchasing weed in Colorado and driving home with it to New Mexico? Would that be considered trafficking if I'm buying it for personal use? In Colorado it's legal for everyone. Once I hit the New Mexico state line I'm a legal card carrying medical marijuana recipient. Anyone have any ideas?

well, as long as the feds don't bust you i'm sure you'll be fine. the police work for the state or city, so as long as you don't break either states laws i can't see how there could be a problem.

There's the rub. If I get busted for possession and even if it's a misdemeanor, I lose my card. Forever. I'm going across state lines and I think that's considered a federal trafficking violation, but, I'm not sure. I'm perfectly legal in both states to have Cannabis. I don't know. I'm so confused.

It strikes me that since it's a Federal violation regardless. Your only risk in in the transaction itself. Once it's in your possession who's to say if it's New Mexico weed or Colorado weed?

That's simple. They take genetic samples from every strain the producers grow. They can match it up and if it doesn't match? I'm busted.

Fair enough. Realistically however, if you were to get pulled over in Co with less than an ounce and a receipt is the cop going to give a shit? Barring other offenses it can't be worth his time and paperwork to hassle you. Once you're in NM it's just your prescription. (Assuming you keep your nose clean). I just don't see it being a problem on a state level so long as you're not doing stupid shit.
