well this is what i use my friend. like i said my grow this time around is centered around a person with a tight budget $26 for nutes(Canna A-B nutes), $25-$27 for the 50 liter bag of coco(Canna Coco Coir), and $24 for the bloom booster(GH Floralicious Bloom). that's $75-$80 for a whole cycle. for me thats two weeks for the clones, three to four weeks veg, and 60 days of flowering. i don't think you can beat that. but hey research it find out for your self because there are some other coco makers, and other nutes specifically for coco that are available out there.Ill pick up some nutes made for coco. What kind should I get I have been using humbolts oness program for like 6 months but I will go buy different coco brand nutes and try them out if they work better.
Couldnt be more then $60 for the nutes made for coco right? And what brand do you use Zen ill go get some tomarow maybe my plants will love me more.

Thanks man I saw the canna nutes up at the store to so they prolly got the bag-o-canna aswell. ill grab them both if it aint broke dont fix it.

yea man as far as some of the other brands out there this stuff is much better quality. its already washed and buffered to absorb the nutes properly, and its already ready to go. no need to saok it or do anything to it, just open the bag and put it in a pot. also just an FYI you can check my journal, i think its post #43, i have some what of a feeding program that might be of some help. only for the fact that the directions on the bottle may not be that easy to understand, and it doesn't tell you how much you should increase the dosages over time.Oh I do like that its in a bag. Good shit. The guy at the shop was telling me to get some of the Bcuzz or whatever so I wouldnt have to wash it but it was pricey and I am the type of person that doesnt beleive "hype" if you know what I mean? I thought he was just trying to make some money and sell me some pricey stuff when the hydrofarm was like $8 for big bail.
The loose stuff in the bag makes me feel better though so im gonna get that and just save this hydro farm to cut soil instead of perlite or somthing.
Ill go subscribe and read your journal to get the scoop thanks agian.

Heyt thanks for the tips Zen/Corwin. It's good to hear all the postives on coco. I will be starting a journal and definatly appreicate the advice. I will check out your journal Corwin. I checked out Snow white's journals and I definatley like those Snapture connectors..It gave me an idea of making my own stand out of pvc

you use double strength cannazym for the last week of flower b4 you harvest, or at least once before you reuse it:
Use the cannazym at 18 ml per gallon, let it sit for 24 hours, then it is ready to be reused.

OK I have a question about my drainage. I am going to use coir as my medium in 10 gallon smart pots. I haven't decided if I will use individual trays under the pots or the 4'x4' trays with 6 pots in each. The advantage of the individual trays would be that I can arrange the pots with a little more seperation. I am wondering how I will deal with theexcess water when feeding. I have a few ideas, but would love some input from you guys to help me decide or even use something I haven't thought of yet.
1) I just use the individual round plastic catch trays. I use a shop vac an hour after feeding and suck up the excess water. Not sure how I would flush with this system.
2) I use the 4'x4' trays and set them on 2x4s to raise them up a couple inches..cut a hole in the bottom and run a drain line.
3) I use the 4'x4' trays with the 2x4s under and a submersable pump in each that I run after feeding and pump to a drain.
4) ( this what I had in my head) do #3 but pump into a reservior and re-use food for a week. I could also set up another pump to water the plants with.
I think the main qustion is how much excess water is there when useing coir as a medium? I know a lot of soil growers just put he pots on the floor.

You wouldn't want to re-use solution like that. A lot of the reason why growers use a run-to-waste watering system is because the extra run-off helps to rid the plant of the salts and other waste products it produces as it grows. Feeding it back to them would be kinda like drinking your own urine.
edit: I'm actually not sure about that since you'd be using a hydro system the rules might be different. I'll let somebody else correct me if I'm wrong so only count the drainage part of my post as fully accurate

I would put them in the trays and raise the trays high enough to put something under it to drain into... I use a 15" tall 3 gal. Bucket for each 4x4 tray and empty them by hand after watering.
I dont know if you need 10 gallon smart pots tho ? You can grow pretty big plants in smaller pots when using coco because its hydro.... If you do use the big pots than you will probably need to use a lot of feed water to get the recommended 10-20 percent run off.
How big/tall of plants do you plan on growing? How many plants per light?

I hate to break it to ya bud but if you've got pumps set up to drain, then you add a pump to do the watering, that's a hydro system. A variation of the flood and drain system, if I'm not mistaken.

I have about a max of 5' hight without getting to close to the lights. If I had more height I would lift up the trays and put a reservoir under.
Maybe I am way off base here, but I thought big pots meant big plants.. I also didn't know that coco in pots was considered hydro..( sounds like I ready to grow huh..lol) I have to stay under 12 plants per script so I want to get the most out of my plants. I have read a lot of journals and it does seem that coco gets pretty decent yeilds in smaller pots that 10 gal... I guess I just figured the bigger the pot the biggger the plant.
To answer your question, 6 plants per tray per 1000w light.

Good to know..I was given the idea at the hydro store..but it does make sense that you wouldn't want to put the waste back into the plants.
