co2 and lighting question - advice please!

Later on i'm picking up a lovely bottle of co2, now, it comes with the obvious on/off knob and a thread to attach a regulator etc to but can i simply attach a tube straight to the bottle with a connector and manually give the room a 20-30min blast each day or every say 4 hours? The bottle will be outside the grow room whilst the tube will be entering 3 quarters of the way up so it drops on the plants. Is it safe?!

secondly, im switching to flower later with a 400w hps, but also have considered adding a 250w red cfl. Will this benefit my bud or make it leggy, or should i stick to just hps?
room size is 6x7x3 (l,h,d).

advice appreciated peeps!

Yes you can just crack the bottle on your co2 in the box to enrich the air.
But you got to have her sealed up an a fan to keep the co2 from settling on the bottom.

I did it once an just blasted the room with co2 an closed the door.

the room is completely sealed, floor level intake, carbon filter at roof height, temps 24c lights on and 21 when off. Im using advanced nutes a+b, ph always kept to 5.6. Iv'e read so many articles and spoke to lots of growers who swear by it, now i'm confused!!!! ps the co2 is free anyway - pub landlord good mate!

Click the Mythbuster link in my previous post if have not yet. Explains alot. And if it is free then give it a shot but I still think random dosing is still pretty much a waste of time. Give it try though and let us know how it works out.

Happy Trails......

the co2 should be the last thing on the shopping list. like cowboy said, everything else needs to be dialed in first to get the benifits of co2. but once you have it there you can reap the rewards of using the co2.

More light the better. Some cfls covering the lower areas of the plant would work great. 400 watt lights only penetrate the canopy 8-10 inches. Supplemental lighting could only help.

i thought about placing the cfl inbetween the 2 rows of 3 plants and the hps above, ive heard they can make your buds a bit scraggly though, also i didnt want the hps warming up the cfl more than it should. maybe a new ballast and bulb is in order before spending £40 on a bulb. heard a lot of good and bad about cfl's. currently im using a 14000k blue bulb with a 400w mh, seems to be doing wonders above my vanilla kush, thought the guy at the gro shop had ripped me off with the spectrum at fiirst

Not sure if you have another thread, but I was curious to hear how things went when you turned the co2 on randomly?? I'm thinking about doing the same thing, just wanted to see if you had any feedback.

Thanks
