Cloning. Is it really this difficult?

Ok so I decided to clone my 6 week old purple trainwreck plant (bought her as a clone from my local dispensary). I cut 27 clones 17 days ago.

Tools: cloning jel, brand new sterilized razor blade, cup of bottled water(super thrive mixed), jiffy pellets (also soaked in bottled water pellet mix), humidity dome, a box that I placed a hanging incandescent in to create heat, regular household CFL, and 300 watt incandescent equivalent CFL.

Process: I cut a clone then placed in water while i cut the rest. And repeat 27 times. Next I sliced the stem of each clone some and dipped in cloning gel and placed in pre-soaked jiffy pellet. And repeat 27 times. Next I placed clones in humidity chamber under twenty four hour light (household CFL). throughout the weeks I trashed 8 clones. (The stems were deteriorating from mold I guess) So I would mist them and remove lid for about fifteen minutes a day. I read in a thread that too much moisture for the stem is bad!? About five days ago I decided to put them into the clear dixie cups so that roots would be visible with in the new dirt (also red cups for the outside. so double cupped). So currently 17 days in, one clone has a visible root, the others, for the most part, are showing top growth yet no visible roots. The ones that yellowed out then began to grow(slowly) I have placed under the 300 watt and outside the humidity chamber.

What is going on with these clones? will they make it? why so long to root? As much advice as you can give I can read and accept. Thank you in advance.

roots hate light so ditch the clear cups, other wise I cut my stems down the middle and also scrape the outer layer of "skin" off and then dip into cloning gel. sounds like you are on the right track.

Clones can look like crap as they try to put out roots, but keep an eye on your temps and humidity, keep them out of strong light, give them a very light feeding, and they will bounce back. As long as they are still green, they will make it.

i felt the same way at first some times it just takes awhile to get the hang of it first fuck the jiffy pellet either ge store and get some small rock-wool cubes and the smallest bottle of liquid hormex or powder no gel. clonex sucks gel in general sucks washs away. soak cuttings in a pure solution of hormex for 2 minutes it best to find something shaped like a test tube so it covers more stem with less liquid (never put liquid back in container)then put immediately in rock-wool cube in humidity dome water daily leave the little vent on top open a little and place in a 1000 lumen per sqaure foot area. mix hormex according direction for one gallon of water and soak rock-wool mix the same way for water used to water the plant keep pH around 6.0.(be sure to rinse rock-wool out then allow it to dry a little before soaking in solution). if you are still having problems ill let you know how to make a good aeroponics cloner out of a lowes bucket fairly cheap. (under 100) oh and dont bother looking for roots right now youll know theres roots when they come bursting out the side

right you are. i forgot to mention that i have red dixies to place the clear ones. and yeah I cut another clone yesterday morning just to see if i could do better and i decided to scrape the out layer. no slice tho.

thanks tho

that is good to hear.. now when you say light feeding, you mean nutes?

Ive took cuttings and simply stuck it in a cup with water and stuck on a sunny window and have had great success rooting. Outdoors Ive had broken off branches and just stick them in the ground and they root and continue to grow. They truly are a "weed".
