Cloning from Fan Leaves

Forget what all the haters say, I've gotten healthy clones both ways. I once buried a whole node with a fan leaf sticking up, with the top and bottom 1/2 inch of the stem under soil and it totally worked!
No nodes allowed...Nodes don't 'count'.

Woomeister claims that 'with his process, nodes are not necessary; just a leaf'...And you can have an actual plant within a week or two... Apparently it's a 'top secret' process, as to this day, The WooMester refuses to reveal 'his secret'...

It's possible to clone a plant from a leaf. Maze works. I did research it. But who would want to? It takes too friggin long.
Idk if it's ever been done with MJ. I searched for published material and wasn't able to find any. But the technique is doable.
It's just that I think by the time the leaf puts out roots, stems and more leaves, I could've already taken 100 cuttings and rooted them.

Well I just ran a 60 plant harvest all with leaf clones, very structurally sound good healthy plants. I will post pics when I get my camera in two weeks.

The only leaves this will work on are succulent, or at least thick.
Paper thin leaves like cannabis = a no go.

Sorry to bring back this old thread, but this guy got a lot of bad crap, and he's completely right about taking cuttings from fan leaves. I'm a little disgusted by the way some of the people here reacted to his statements. I expect this on Cannabis Culture or Grass City, but RIU has always been pretty civil in comparison.

Anyway, for anyone who missed his photos I suggest you go back into the thread and click on the attachment icon (looks like a paperclip) to the far right of the thread title. Checkout the last 3 photos for the results of his experiment.

Since it's not real science unless it can be duplicated, I'm also going to repeat this and post photos for everyone to see. I'm currently at day 4 and my leaf cutting is still alive. Next week I expect to see roots (usually takes 10-15 days to successfully clone), so I'll upload photos or post the results either way.

I can stick a fan leaf in dirt too. Not difficult. If it was possible to grow plants by cloning fan leaves, it would be the norm right now. Do you really think a community of stoned people don't try shit like this all the time? Come on now. We invent pipes from apples, PC grow boxes, ice water hash, LSTing, etc. If nothing else, stoners are inventive. If it was possible to grow a plant from a fan leaf, we would all know about it and that would be the standard way to get clones.

Seriously, this thread has set the cannabis movement back more than Nixon and the DEA. Just by looking at a few pages I've become slightly retarded. FFS let it die already so we can all move past this embarrassment of a discussion.

Seriously Dave, you were that lazy that you didn't bother to look? lol. C'mon dude. I'll make it easy for you, since clicking on the attachment and scrolling down was obviously asking for to much.

Some people ... geez.

So now you've (apparently) a fan leaf with roots...congrats! You still have to basically perform a tissue culture on it to make it into anything useful...so I guess the joke is really on you.

weediscool - you come accross totally ingorant and foolish, a degree in psychology, wow you must be just amazing, go give yourself a handjob:smile:

It can definitely be done, so long as the pice of plant has enough of the required hormones (mainly auxin and gibbrelin i beleive off the top of my head) and enough simple carbohydrates available to it theoretically theres no limit to the size you could use.
If you have access to agar you can grow a plant from a single cell as long as it is a cell that has the ability to defferentiate (change its purpose so it can be a different cell depending on what part of the plant itd become). Its basically the same as stem cells in humans - the stem cell can grow into any other cell, over-simplified but thats the jist:weed:
