Cloning a Flowering Plant....

So i got these plants that are about 8 weeks into flowering. I spotted mites on a few of them and immedietly removed those plants from the garden. Now my garden looks fine a few days later (no a single mite in site), but i had these three other plants i secluded in the bathroom that are not getting better theyre getting worse. Of these three infested plants one of them was my ONLY blue mystic plant and i was very impressed with the genetics, but never cloned it cause i have too many strains. Now that it has a big spider mite orgy all over it i know its going to taste like shit and it hasnt even fully matured. So i want to clone it and grow it out again next grow. Its 8 weeks into flowering. There's buds on every branch. Can i clone it? do i take a cutting then cut the bud tip of that cutting than plant that? i've read about how it takes much longer to root but will it still be a good plant or will the stress of being reveged so young have an effect on its grow?

get some insecticidal soap and spray your plants with that, that'll keep the mites under control. I find it hard to believe the rest of your plants aren't infected too though.
I'd just leave the buds on for cuttings, less chance of rot when in a cloner

...I think 8 weeks in way to long...2 weeks is about the max..imo...from what I understand, the plant is to far along at that point to promote healthy roots or to grow new shoots...thats the best I can explain it...lol...hope that helps.....sorry to here about the pest prob.....good luck

check out my grow journals (signature).

I reveg plants and take clones from late flowering plants all the time.

MARIJUANANATIONS CLONING FLOWERING PLANTS TIPS:

Remove as much of the bud as possible from the plant, leaving all or most of the leaves untouched.
Nutrients:
Rooting Hormone + Grozyme + Green Planet Root Builder are going to be your best friends when you are trying to clone a flowering plant.

Rooting Hormone + Grozyme + Vita Max also works wonderfully (although there is alot more yellowing that occurs on the clones with this method).

Types of cloning mediums used: Jiffy Pucks, Soilless, Rockwool, Bubble Cloner, Aero Cloner, Cup Of Water.

I have a 95% sucess rate with thest products and a great root system developed in 4 - 7 days Guaranteed.

As long as I have been using these products in conjunction with each other I have had a 95% sucess rate with cloning.

When I first started cloning using simply Wilson Gel Rooting Hormone I had about a 50% sucess rate with all of the growing mediums listed above..

Peace

Just like marijuananation said. 2 chances to save your stain. This is how I do it & have roughly a 95% success rate as well. I have cloned during flush. I have heard of people that have & reported Hermy's
Chances1) Harvest the top & the bark type branches. Then put the plant into veg 24 /7 give veg nutes trim some buds off the center area leaving all folige. DO NOT trim all the buds off. Re- Grow Her.
2) Find a nice thin structured branch near the bottom not to much bark with 4-5 healthy shoots with folige and smaller buds. Lenght 16"-20". You could possibly get 4-5 clones.
I choose 3. I scrap some of the bark or calised part of the stalk till you see the membrane. Then cut just below the node & make fine deep cut through the membrane dipe in cloning gel use a cube, Root Roit, then I put it in a dome. It takes 10-15 days, roots thick, white, strong.

Now you have better odds on saving that strain
