Clones with nutes???

No fertilizer while they are rooting. The plant will essentially keep growing, instead of pushing out roots.

You do not count the PPM of the tap water in your total PPM, so your actual PPM is 470.

My guess is that ppm is to strong for cuttings but your right to add tap water ppm to actual nute ppm being tap water contains all types of minerals

Well that is the old logic and done it many times with no nutes just plain tap at 210ppm but they seem fine as of 5th day in cloner but we shall see. Were taken from small solid grown from seed moms that are still not yet ready to go to flower being only 10"s tall. Put them to flower at 14" and they end at 37 to 40" with huge colas usually. We shall see if nutes at the early stage will effect them or not.. I am going to be surprised if they do great and wonder if so then why I would waste nute water to make clones. Will post in a few days then in a few weeks if they do well or not... It should be interesting.. Three clone strains so will know it is not strain specific too.... Thanks. They look damn happy so far but roots not out yet so anything can happen...

Ps. Since calcium and Mag are the main items in the tap at 210 I have to aggree with the other poster that u do add that to the total ppm.. So in that regard you are incorrect I think..

No. The PPM we are interested in is FERTILIZER, not other crap in the water.

ppm is what you have added to the base water.

So anyway ppms at 470 or 680 total either way clone with nutes is the question. What will be in the end?? with nutes on clones will it make a difference or will it not? if you think you know the answer please state it. I will let you know if you were right within two weeks and most likely in 5 to 6 days will know how it affected the rooting time/s or the process if at all. Usually have my main strain in pure water no nutes for clones and takes about 8 days to show out the bottom roots. This is fast and 10 days is the most I have ever waited to see roots out the bottoms of the net pots. So make your choices now and we will see who is right/wrong/???

...If your feeding your plants by PPM levels instead of dosages then ...yes, you want to add the ppm's of your water...so if you want say a ppm level of 1200 to feed with, & your tap is 300, then you need 900 ppms of nutes &
additives...the plants will eat whatever that is in the res water, no matter if you put it in there or if its in the tap.....this is why most hydro growers use RO, they want to KNOW what the plant is getting.

No what?? I know it is not the method prescribed but I am not so sure it will matter. These plants love to grow and nutes no nutes I am still no sure what will happen. You say no but with no elaboration so please give some more about your "no".. Thanks.

Ps. The post above that says total ppm is water + nutes = ppm total and well that is the fact! Right on and thanks.. All the other statements on how waters ppm is not counted should not post further. People use cal/mag all the time with ro water ect and well the main elements in public tap waters are Calcium and Magnesium. So if you want to not count those then add all the calmag u can get and good luck. Tap water is fine and I should know I have used it in 20 grows and have had the best stuff and yields you can get from small grow. So anyone want to waste good money on ro or ro filters or bottled water feel free. I drink tap water a lot and I am strong and not dead and well a weed that I grow many times with tap and no issues so do as you please but I know better... More please on the clones with nutes and what it might do if anything negative......!!!

Everything said is false. 1. I use nutrients to clone with 100% success (GH Micro and Bloom @ 2ml each per gallon with R/O).
2.Total PPM is absolute, like the one guy said the plant still eats that good/bad crap in the tap water so why would that not be added?

To answer the question though what I was taught was to keep the PPM on clones around 300-400 ppms. It seems to be working just fine for me.

What medium do you clone in?

I always used plain non nuted water for clones in hydroton in tubs. Now I still have no answer as to what bad might occur with clones in nutes at 500 or so. Total 680 now.. So still no real answer as to what might bad happen so heres the story now. I have a very small grow now, only 5 plants and the first of the nutes water clones is about 10 days from start and it has good roots showing as of last eve. So I want to know what will now happen if anything other than fantastic growth?? This strain usually is 14" tall in about three weeks and then I put to 12/12 and it takes 52 days to finish with big sticky top of the class buds. finish is around 40" tall when I cut. Under 1000k hps. This is all hydro/areo/nft.. Best laboratory conditions with no added co2.. Humidity kept at about 50 late in bloom and no molds no bugs nothing but the best trics you can ever hope for.. Given it is one of the best strains in the world and anyone can buy it.. I won't tell you where unless you give me something I don't know that is really!!! good!!! advice or science that makes sense!!! Thanks.. Order yours now is my advice but you need to know what company and what strain and I am not saying just yet.. I am not bullshitting anyone either so take it from my cup judge friend when that 24/7 head says it is the best she has smoked, mostly,, mostly..... tata....

OK lets all get back on proper cloning ways and that starts from the source the parent plant for proper cloning you should only water the mother plant not using any type of nutrients for at least 1 week this will help for better success
secondly when measuring ppm in liquid you are measuring total disolved solids 1 part per million water has mineral content in it iron, copper , zinc etc the minerals of life so when testing water ppm is added into the equation you want 1000 ppm water is lets say 160ppm you need to mix nutrient strength to 840 ppm add them both up and you got 1000 ppm of disolved solids
Now getting back to cloning being water does have some disolved solids that alone will be sufficient till roots come once you see roots then clones are ready for light traces of nutrients remember if soil is to hot in nutients roots will not want to go there stress occurs disease and slow growth key to cloning is humidity and temps
