Hey guys!

I've been so interested in growing I finally went out and bought a 2x2 tent with ventilation and lights included. Went to my local smoke shop and grabbed feminized chocolope seeds. Want to go get the medium tomorrow but don't really know what im looking for when it comes to medium and nutrients. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! Welcome to growing and welcome to rollitup.

I've got 3 Chocolope crosses flowering at the moment (Cropolope from 'Cream of the Crop seeds' - Chocolope X Haze). Grown the strain a few times now and it's super tasty. Straight Chocolope will likely be even tastier, you're in for a treat.

I'm growing in 'Plagron All Mix', have also grown in 'Bio-Bizz All Mix' and 'Canna Terre Professional' - all very similar products.

I would suggest starting by growing in soil because there is so much less you have to concentrate on (you don't have to worry about PH in the soils I have mentioned). Do you have a hydroponics store near you? They'll be able to help you. You really can't go far wrong with an 'All Mix' - you do have the choice of getting a 'Light Mix' for starting seedlings off in (it contains less nutrients, something some strains are sensitive too when they're young). Based on my experience with the Cropolope they're not sensitive, and i'm sure you'll be ok with 'All Mix' for your Chocolope.

Nutrients wise I use a 'Grow' product for veg, and then a 'Grow' and 'Bloom' product for flowering. You probably won't need to add any extra nutrients for a month or so when using 'All Mix' soil. A Cal/Mag product is also essential in my experience (although some nutrients contain Cal/Mag - so check when you buy). There will always be a choice of nutrients - the BioBizz ones are good, and have been around for years. Personally I've been using the 'Shogun Samurai Terra' nutrients from Growell here in the UK for my last few grows and am very pleased with them (I believe they are similar to the 'Canna Terra' nutrient range).

I've been using an Enzyme product called 'Zenzym' for the last few grows, which is supposed to help keep the root zone in optimum condition for the plants. I also have a bloom booster called 'Shogun Sumo Boost', which I give them every other feed during flowering, and a PK booster which I give them once about 3 weeks before harvest. None of these products are strictly essential - but I wouldn't be without them now.

I hope that all gives you some food for thought. I'm happy to answer any questions you have.

Enjoy your growing! It's a great hobby for sure!

if you wish to go the organic root, see if your local tip has any organic soil from garden waste, that will get you through the first 4-6 weeks of growth,
if you look up dry amendments like chicken manure, fish blood n bone, and seaweed meal, earthworm casts, insect frass and learn how to make compost teas and organic teas in general, you will get the least problems whilst growing and flowering cannabis

There is a lot of bad germination info out there, so this will help get you started right: https://www.mandalaseeds.com/Guides/Germination-Guide. Definitely figure out what media and nutrients you want to use before germinating them. I like Maxibloom a lot for new growers because it's an all in one formula, and it's hard to mess up if you do some reading on it first. Here is the Maxibloom KISS thread https://www.icmag.com/forum/marijuana-growing/nutrients-and-fertilizers/189616-the-k-i-s-s-method?t=191645. You can use coco or soil, but you need to understand the difference in feeding/watering practices of each, so read up!

I'd suggest starting out with Promix bx in some solo cups to start out with and if you want to try other mediums you can always transplant from solo cups to whatever medium you ultimately decided on.

Very much appreciated. I ended up getting purple cow inicanja for the soil and 4-8-4 rose and flower mix for the top dressing and I also picked up some stuff called fish shit. I think its a soil conditioner. I'm really excited to get the tent in soon then I want to start a grow journal on here. Very nervouse but very excited. Thank you everyone for your help so far. Rollitup is sick!
