Chicago Land Area Growers Unite! (MIDWEST)

Just wanted to check out where all the Midwest growers were up to in 2009. I personally live in the Chicago-land area and am very excited for the upcoming grow.

Was wondering what strains you guys usually choose and see good results with?

I really want to try and grow some Barney's Farm Ultra Haze this year, but don't know if it will do well with our cycle.

Also, just post what strains you guys are choosing!

Very nice glad to see a variety of strains that you're working with.

Here is a link to my "plan" for 2009: https://www.rollitup.org/outdoor-growing/170589-midwest-2009-outdoor-grow-operation.html

My strains and whatnot are listed in that thread. Leme kno what you think!

Well, Whiterain, it looks like you stocked up on varieties during the winter, I think your approach is pretty good, being skeptical with weed is probably better than begin optimistic, 50% and 150gr is doable, so if you obtain better results you'll be even happier, from the Chi area myself Kane Co. Fox Valley, spring seems light years away, are all of your strains early flowerers?

Well I'm glad to get your approval on my "realistic" approach. Glad to hear you're in the Chicago area growing along in the upcoming season. As far as my strains flowering periods are concerned I need to do more research on, but I feel like it would be fine to harvest around here even up to the first week of October. It usually doesn't get too cold until Halloween I feel.

I thought cook country was North suburbs? Hmm...maybe I'm wrong, but anyways why can't you grow indoors?

Hey guys,

I'm new to the site and new to growing. It's good to see others at a similar locale to my own.

I am in Northern Illinois and have a question for all of you at similar latitudes. When can i expect flowering/bloom to start in our region? I am unfamiliar with the light cycles and when the nights become longer.

Anyways planning on growing: Holland's Hope, Durban Poison, and Purple Widow. All were part of a outdoor grow pack that sold for a good deal and are supposidly very hearty to sub-optimal climates.

Open to any suggestions or advice.

happiness,
RF

Sweet! Sounds tasty! However, why would you say you should've gone with a indica strain. I personally like sativa strains more, but that's just my preference.

^^^ any advice on lighting from people from similar latitude would be great. I am trying to plan the same at the moment. Should i expect to have to modify the plants light cycle in order to get plants to be done flowering on time?

Whats up fellow chicagoland growers, I am also real close between chicago and rockford. I am starting this season with Barney's Nightshade, mostly Indica harvest end of Sept with a THC content of 22% I believe this one should do perfect around here.
