Changing Ballasts... Quick Question.

Hey everybody. I am starting my grow this week and I am planning on purchasing a back up ballast next week that I will probably make my primary ballast. I currently have a 600w ipower ballast that I got as a kit off of Amazon for $210 and i bought two spare bulbs to go along with it. I have heard a lot of great things about the iPower ballast but i am slightly concerned with the long term reliability. So I am going to purchase a 600w Solis Tek as a back up and will probably make it my primary or use 2 600's for next year. Do hopefully the ipower will last me at least three weeks of 18/6 until the Solaris gets here.

My question is... Once I get the Solaris Tek, will the cable from the bulb fixture from the ipower be compatible with the plug on the Solaris Tek? I assume it will come with it's own power cable, but i can't see the other connection to the bulb fixture in any of the pictures, so will the be able to plug and play with my current ipower bulb fixture? Thanks very much for the help guys, I really appreciate it!!

They should work. When you buy an air-cooled hood, most come with socket and chord. And I haven't seen any that specify what type of ballast to use with hood.

If they are the same wattage or lower and same voltage then yes you can use it,The ballast does most of the work but they should both be switchable or hps or mh alone.
DO NOT add mh bulbs to a hps only ballast and vice versa,If both ballast are switchable you are good to go.You ever seen a HPS turn into a grenade? I have and it's not pretty.

No I haven't seen that spectacle, but yes they are both switchable. From what I can find the Solis Tek is the best ballast on the market right now.
