cfl's keep shuting off?

ok my damn cfl's keep shutting off (i think they are hot or something?). is that normal? i went to home depot and got a brand new bulb ...and same thing... they are in a 75 watt fixture (the generic $7 metal reflector and clip) and the bulbs are 23watt bright white cfl's (you know the ones that say they put out 100watts). they are in a cabinet that has a fan and is not hot...

i shut them off for a minute and they partially come on. if i give them a break
(like 10 minutes) they turn back on.

i thought cfl's were good, but now im thinking tubes are the way to go.

my clones cant take this on and off shit

Sounds like it might be a short. Whats the humidity reading and check to make sure any and all wiring is properly insulated.

your probably right. i had the clones in a humidity dome and the lights were fine. this problem only started now that i took the lid off of the dome. I still have a small cup of water in there to keep it humid. Thats gotta go and i think it will be better. good call

standing water isnt a very good humidifier actually a peice of cloth wicked into the water might work better.

hmm they turned off again. 2 separate lights and fixtures. i noticed that the bulbs ballast was hot. is it because its a 75 watt fixture? i thought the 100 watt cfls were really 23 watts?

Did they flicker before? That is a sign that they are going bad.

lol 1 is a day old the other about a month. no they dont flicker, most of the spiral will shut down, then it will completely shut down, until i give it rest.
its like the light is shutting down because its hot. but its a fucking 23 watter in a 75 watt fixture. lol. this is annoying me. luckilly i have my some good medicine to calm my nerves

return them, sounds a hell lot like they sold you junk...

if they start to flicker aka. cycling, that is a sign that the done...

and to the hot, my cfl at my desk is now burning for a wail too and hot now and won't shut off on her own for sure, you got bad cfls or a short, but i would rather say you got bad ones...

it was the metal hood reflector thing. it made the bulb get to hot. no ventilation. i took it off and so far so good.

that could be, cfls workrange in temp is from 60 to 85F and they shut down around 110F... oddish...

mine is the same way it was in a small reflecter and like ever 5 hours it would be off i was like wtf took it out put another one in the same grow space in worked keep the one that went off out to cool (Very Hot) about hour later worked just fine then the next day i noticed that other bulb did the same so now i keep them more vented and they work great i dout ther is anything wrong with it.
