I grow in a 4x4 with an HID. I run a 600 in a sealed hood. I also have an Active Air 6" fan. Filter-fan-hood-exhaust with passive intake and no muffler. This is in a garage that doesn't have AC so I shut down for the summer because of the heat. The rest of the 9 months of the year everything is fine and I actually run a small heater in the tent in the middle of the winter during the day when the lights are off. I don't have any clip on fans or anything in the tent as the air coming in from the passive intakes at the bottom of the tent create plenty of airflow with the suction from the fan at the top of the tent. Clip on or tower fans inside the tent don't cool anything down they just move the air around.

With that portable air conditioner you do not want to extend the hose it came with as it will create back pressure and cause the unit to quit functioning. I've heard of people using a booster fan if they extend the length of the exhaust hose but I've never done that so I don't know how effective that is.

Do you need the muffler? It may be reducing the flow for the exhaust. I've never used one so I don't really know how much restriction it could cause. I would try changing the order of the components to filter-fan-hood-exhaust pushing the air instead of sucking the air through the hood and remove the muffler. If you use a speed controller you can turn the fan down to where you can't hardly hear it. I would use passive intake rather than leaving the door open. I have two 4" and one 6" vents opened and filtered.
Yes sir I believe the muffler is one problem as you stated and I also thought about using a booster fan to assist pushing all that air threw. I installed the dampers it help keep the air from flowing into each other and now I can actually run both fine. I think I will try reordering things and maybe removing my muffler. I’m considerate and I figured I’ll use the muffler to keep noise down a bit from all that wind noise.

I forgot to mention, if you're not running your lights at night when it's cooler then you should start.
do you think a anemometer or wind meter can help me track cfm loss. And also is it possible that everything is doing it’s job maybe I’m using it all wrong lol
Like yesterday it seemed as if when I used my central ac it was just sucking all the cool air out the room vs the heat. I leave my tent open because I like staring at the plants lol maybe my body heat is raising temps lol I’m just kidding but I do notice body’s carry a lot of heat and my body temp can raise grow area temp by 1 or 2 degrees

@xtsho @Herb & Suds

I see these HID are the same bulbs used to light up baseball fields it’s like trying to trap the sun in a tent what are you guys take on lighting? @Herb & Suds what do use? I know @xtsho have the 600 watt going so you have ever used a 400 before? Do 600 get much hotter than a 400?
400's don't produce enough light
I used to use two 1k and two 250's for sidelight
I replaced them with four 600's

HID's is just a name for HPS or Metal Halide

What size space are you using? Also what’s with all the LED hype are they good?

Simply put, LED are much more efficient. For example, ideally, you want 800w HID in a 4x4 where you'd only need 480w of quality LED. LED's also don't degrade anywhere near as fast as HID. HID bulbs (all regular light bulbs, really) have planned obsolescence built in.
The only folks who switch back from LED to HID are those who need the extra heat.

Thank you where should I start looking at with LED’s? As far as brand you stated 480w of quality LED so adding that to my notes. I saw 2 at my local store they were $750 and $1000 is that about right?

Do not purchase lights from your local store. They are going to have a significant markup over what you can purchase them online and direct. You can replace your HID with LED for much less $750. The local shop is probably adding a 30% markup or more.

I'd be the wrong person to make a suggestion as I haven't shopped for LED in some years but those prices are way too high. Decent LEDs can be found for a lot less. You could probably find some good links in the LED lighting section of the forum.

well we are all on the same accord here with saving money lol I will be doing my research

I checked suction of air thru my light it’s sucking good on low. You guys think I could be doing something wrong with my environment? Maybe to much wind going in the wrong direction, wrong fan placement. Should I close up my tent and use the passive air intakes to control temps?

is 84 86 to high?

I picked up a Mars Hydro FC 3000 for the 4 x 4 tent done well, on my 3rd grow harvested 1.5 lbs, and just got to wait for them to dry, anyone ever tried trimming without gloves after you cut them down? I did never felt my hands so sticky, Northern Lights, I tried a piece to try out its fire

don't anyone ever read anymore? these stats as questions are 1 of the very 1st things to learn the temperature, the humidity, the air circulation your ph balance, your PPFD of your lights, all play a role, seriously the temperatures & humidity, is a given to the newest novice growers

Lol when I ask about my temps I’m not speaking on best temps for growing I’m speaking on temps for my situation. Only reason I came on here to ask these questions is to get a better understanding and to talk with what some call fellow growers and just get input from others. I’m not dumb or a noob, and everything I been told I found on google and YouTube serval times I just like to dig into the info and see what I can find out. I asked was my temp good considering how I have it set up. I am well aware there are several follow along guides all over the place that I can take and hope to get them same results I’m not hoping for any certain results at this time I’m just interested in learning the why behind it all. Forgive me for asking redundant questions I’ll stick to google YouTube and trail and error.

thanks on all the scrutiny lol
