[CFL] Lemon Skunk! [Clone]

:leaf:Hello Rollitup!:leaf:
This will be my very first Grow Journal and I'm glad to have you with me.
I have no idea where the original seed came from, but I'm assuming it would be G.H.S.C.

A good buddy of mine just dropped it off in a little 6" square pot.
He said he can pull 3oz out of a 1 gallon bucket with this phenotype.
I'll be putting that to the test, however I just use CFL lighting, unlike his HPS setup.
Right now I've got 4 weeks or so left on some bagseed, so I'm planning on vegging this clone for 2-3 weeks, then taking a clone from the clone's top (topping + rooting) Giving it another 2 weeks to catch up, and inducing flower. And from there on I'll manage a perpetual just like this, one plant at a time. So I'll have a total of 2 plants at once.
It's my first time using trusted genetics, so it will be a major learning experience to see how big name genetics perform.
I picked up a little video camera from a yard sale yesterday, so the pictures won't be quality (3.1MP) but now I can try to update every few days. If I notice overnight growth I'll update it. But I know you guys don't want to see daily pictures.

Feel free to post useful information & positive feedback.
However, if I get posts such as "You should upgrade to a 1000w HPS or your plants will suck ass!" or "That looks horrible, you don't know what you're doing" they will be promptly ignored and/or reported.
Please, don't post your own grows in here seeking advice, this is NOT the place for that. If I ask for a picture/details you will know.
You can post pictures if you want, just don't hijack it too bad. I would love to see pictures of your Lemon Skunk if you have them.
Day 2: Perking up/getting used to my spot.
D2-Canopy.JPGD2-Side.JPGD2-Top.JPG
This camera blows. I can't take photos unless it's attached to my computer being used as a webcam. And then it saves them as "file" so I have to convert to JPG. And it just sucks. But heres some photos from just now. This is the second day I've had her so she's starting to perk back up.
See how skinny the leaves are? I thought skunk's were broader?
Day 3: She is growing so fast, she is probably putting on at least a half inch a day.

:leaf:Most of all, enjoy! This is just a hobby after all.:leaf:

Great to see you got yourself the genetics you were hoping for. I'll be along for the ride for sure. If your camera doesnt work you could always use a webcam. If you dont have one their pretty cheap. So because this is a photoperiod how long approx will it be til harvest?

Yea I'm stoked. Glad to have you here.
I've been using bagseed from SoCal, and it wasn't even that great. I'm just hoping it was grower's error, and that my lady will be much better.
But now that I've got solid genetics, I'm planning on just using the Lemon Skunk for a long time. With one clone of the bagseed in case I like the smoke.
My camera is silly, I can't take pictures off of the camera, but I can attach it to my computer and use it as a webcam.
So I'll be doing this, but it's going to get real annoying real fast to keep moving her back and forth.
I'll catch a picture later when the sun is shining more in my window. Probably in the next hour.

Well, it's an alleged 8-week strain. But since my clone is about 5"-6" tall, I won't be flowering her for a while.
Here's the plan;
"Right now I've got 4 weeks or so left on some bagseed, so I'm planning on vegging this clone for 2-3 weeks, then taking a clone from the clone's top (topping + rooting) Giving it another 2 weeks to catch up, and inducing flower. And from there on I'll manage a perpetual just like this, one plant at a time. So I'll have a total of 2 plants at once."
I only have room for one plant at a time in flower, with one tiny clone somewhere else around the house.
So when my bagseed finishes up I'll finally have room for the Lemon Skunk to go in flower.
So if estimates are right I should be looking at a harvest between 9/27/11->10/04/11
But of course every plant is different so who knows.

Day 8: She grew so much, I just topped off a large chunk. It had 4 large fan leaves, with good branching.
I have it rooting in the same tank that I did my bagseed clones in. Hoping for all to go well.
I haven't cut every single leaflet in half yet, I may decide to later tonight.
But I cut about half of them in half.
Using jiffy pellets.

The mother clone is going to be trained into a series of tops, by SimonD's method. I will prune off lower buds as they appear, so as not to shock the plant by lowering light intake. After about 4 weeks I'll put her into flowering..
Here's some VegPorn for you all..

The setup;

On the left is a 5g fishtank, with a 6500k 13w bulb in it, and a PC fan altered to have both fans facing forward.
On the right is a little tank with a glass lid that fits snug, and a plastic cup with a jiffy pellet & clone inside. The light is a 15w Fluoro tube, I can't remember spectrum but it wasn't too good.
It's just for the rooting period.

All my big lights are on my bagseed right now, but when she's done flowering, the lemon mother will go into my flower area.
The clone will live in sunlight from a window after it roots, Until the mother goes into flower.

Well the mother clone is going to look like about 6 medium sized tops.
And the clone will be reshaped into god knows what.
Thanks for the hope, I'm right with you on that one.
Every strain is different, even if it says "lemon" or "OG" or whatever.

HI C.Indica, beautiful signature link. I wish i had a spare camera to send you. Yes, your lemon skunk leaves do look at bit more sativa then my lemon skunk. Its so strange how some strains have such variety in them. I have grown about 6 super lemon hazes and i have seen major leaf differences in many of them. some are thinner and longer and others wider and fatter.. maybe you have a real winner on your hands.. i hope so. Thank you for the link.. fellow lemon skunker!!! and i dont mind daily updates.. i think its great to be enthusiastic about your growing. i hope everything is going well for you and your feeling better these days.. take care amber

Thanks, took me a while to figure out how to do it.
Eh the camera I have is fine, but it won't shoot close-ups.
So no gooey trichome shots for you guys.
She even feels more sativa to me, the stems aren't as thick and bushy as indica branches.
Perfect target for a good LST.
I know she'll be a winner. For sure, glad to have you along, Skunks unite! Haha kidding.
Yea now that I have this camera I'll start shooting more often, so you all will really feel like you were there.
Everything is grand, but my girlfriend doesn't get off until 9 tonight.. so thats annoying.
+ I have to get up at like 5:30 tomorrow morning to work though, so I basically have to go to sleep a couple hours after she gets home.
If I want to be productive..

You too!

Thanks.
Since she was just topped there well by a lot of new growth as the plant prioritizes it's canopy.

I topped off like a 4"+ section, and stuck it in a jiffy pellet.
I put pictures up on the last page.
I'll shoot some more tonight when my big'un wakes up.

The clone isn't lookin' too hot, but it looks better than the start. Hopefully she'll pick up by the end of the week.
I try not to waste plant material, so cloning off of a plant randomly doesn't suit me well. I decided to just top it now, and root it, so I can turn it into a bush. I'm loaded with crazy theories/thoughts so you'll get a lot to bounce around in yer own skull.

So I've begun scraping off branches.
I say scraping because I use a sharp knife to remove them when they are little invisible baby buds, instead of large branches that will slow the plants selected growth down. Especially if I remove them while they're larger.

The mother clone Lemon Skunk, who will be named Xena/Zena (I don't remember how they spell it, but it's a dedicated name),
has 6 branches. So I scrape off branches coming from these 6 "tops".
And I leave everything at the tips, which will veg for another couple weeks, while I remove them up until a week or two before flower.
If I keep removing shoots as they first appear, then in my theory this shouldn't stress the plant, and won't remove many stored up floral hormones.
Then once I flower her, the plant should turn into 6 "tops" with no lower buds.

About an hour or so until I get new pictures up for both my jounals.
Stay tuned.

Day 10 Vegetative; Xena!
I cut off trimary (Correct word?) branches up to the tip of each branch. leaving the fan leaf behind. There are a few more branch sites on each top, but they will be removed soon too.
The plant seems to dig the cut, it healed up already and the branches have shifted.
The clone is still rooting.

I was experimenting with the flash on my camera, so forgive the "doubles."

Day 13 Vegetative; Xena!
Over the last few days her 6 branches have swelled, and stretched as they fought to claim Apical Dominance.
The top couple branches were extremely dominant, showing much swelling over the last two days.
Today I took the bottom two branches, and using the Main Stem as a 'stake' I tied them up to reach for the canopy.
Then I took paper clips, made them into a tall skinny C shape hook, and tied the top 4 branches down until all 6 branch tops were at an even canopy.

So in about two or three days she should be completely parallel as I work up the branches trimming off new branch sites.
Then I just let her fill in for the next few weeks until I chop my Fruit Hair!!
I'll get pictures up later tonight when the FH wakes up.

Subb'd! Looking forward to watching your LS grow! I have 4 LS's going right now. From the looks of it, we may have a very similar strain. I'm following another lemon skunk grow but the pheno is completely different and they look nothing alike. Yours looks a lot like mine and they too started as clones. I LST'd mine also and the branching is kinda wacky looking. Are yours giving off any smell yet? The first 2 weeks of veg and mine were stinking up my entire house, and my grow room is in my basement lol They smell so damn good!!

From what they've been showing me, these plants are a bit tricky to grow. They definitely don't like to be fed every other day like my cheese and kush plants so be careful not to over water.

I wish you the best of luck! Can't wait to see more of your lady :)

Sick, I'm going to look up the different pheno's later today and try to identify what I and/or you have.
My buddy pulls 3oz per 1 gallon pot.
He uses HID's like you so you'll probably get close to this.
I use CFL's for the time being so I'm hoping to get around an ounce out of a 5g bucket.

Mine digs the food every time, and I let some wash out the bottom into my toilet to 'flush' her out.
I just mix up the food with water and feed it to her whenever she needs water.

The guy I got my clones from said they were one of his lowest yielding plants. I was basically growing these ladies for myself and would be happy with anything. I don't see them producing close to 3 oz's each but time will tell. They are off to a late start so I'm guessing they will take 10+ weeks in flower.

I'm interested to see what you can find about the strain.
