A led bulb with more directional light, more lumens and less wattage than a CFL is cheaper than a CFL bulb in the UK. Roughly £2-3 and cheaper in multi packs. Bought from supermarkets, discount stores etc so easy to come by.
In fact a lot of places here no longer sell CFL, they are dated technology.
I’ve done full grows from seed to harvest with CFL and also led bulbs. Led yields were triple cfl with 2/3 the wattage.
well dont no what cfl bulbs u have used but were i am 6-8 cfls are killing a 200-300 watt led 3 well known leds in fact vipa/unit/blackstar

i find the thing u can do with cfl u can not do with any other light is placement were i think u are getting more yield u can place a cfl anywhere on the plant and very close and if u need to bunch them u can so u can have 3-4 bulbs bunched around one cola ;)

This was a quarter pound of dinafem blue cheese grown with 100w extremely inexpensive dollar store LEDs. I think weve all triesd growing crap with cfls, my first thread 9 years ago was a cfl grow, then budget led, moved on to hps, les/hps, and no running hlg quantum boards and loving it. Regardless you live and learn. Youll need twice as much wattage to get half the penetration that any other light gives off. Also need to keep them extremely close to the plant. Theres really no benefit at all other than the fact you unscrewed it from you lamp in the living room for free (and to be honest thats also up for criticism) . jokes aside, in simple terms, it will grow pot but as you sharpen your sword youll realise the benefits
I never flowered with CFL I’ve always flowered outdoors or under hps. All I know is these small little CFL’s have never done me wrong they make my plants green & lush so when they go onto bloom lights or the sun they explode and I never feed when vegging under CFL plants stay dark green & short with lots of side branches that’s all good benefits to me

bro i have seen people out grow cunts with cfls and they paid 300-400 on leds my mate used like 9 cfls and kicked the liven shit out of some led growers
I believe it CFL’s really get the job done you just have to know what your doing.. would love to see some pics of some good cfl flowered bud I’ve seen a couple on some old YouTube videos guy was growing sour diesel under CFL’s & it looked proper. If I didn’t have my sodium light or the amazing SoCal sun I would definitely flower my plants with all CFL

I don't doubt that you are, I am only stating what I found to be the case.

From memory i used 5x 30w CFL bulbs and 1x23w from my local B&Q. Bulbs were horizontal about 2" from canopy. Used this setup for a couple of grows.

I then switched to household led bulbs with the globes ripped off, aiming directly towards the plants. Could get them just as close as the CFL. In fact one plant grew past the bulbs and I put the globes back on as the leaves actually touched the diodes. Used 9x bulbs with a combined wattage of about 120w and roughly 50% more total lumens output than the CFL's.

I'm not knocking CFL.... they work, but tech has changed. If I was to start growing now I would use led bulbs rather than cfl, simply because led bulbs are more available than cfl where I live.

Where do you even find CFL anymore.
Good question.. the last time I bought mine was at Home Depot about 2 years ago 4pack of 23w for 10 bucks they have never failed me to this day I’ve used em for growing, cloning, & even as a night light in the back yard to play basketball & just 1 bulb lit up the whole yard i should’ve stocked up on these when I had the chance...
