Hello,
I purchased (4) 33w (150 watt Equivalent) soft white 2700k CFL bulbs that I was going to use for flowering since Ive been on the 12/12 schedule for 3 days now. But once I opened them I was vey disapointed, they were not as Big as some of the other 32w and 42w CFL's. In fact this new 33 watt was smaller than my 23 watt cfl's. I purchased these from a USA seller and the product is made in the USA so i dont think it was false advertisement nor did i get ripped off. Hopefully It is smaller due to newer technologies that can create a small bulb that has a large output??
It is a Enviro-Lite 33 watt soft white 2700k model number: SW-2433
Here are some pics, notice how much smaller the new 33w cfl is (left) compared to a 23 watt (100 watt equivalent) bulb (right)
What do you guys think? Can i still use these? or are they useless because of their size?

Wish I could help. I feel your pain. Maybe you can get numbers on the bulb and do a search. I tried looking up the brand and the number on the package and no luck... Alll mine are the same size

Well does it appear brighter? That is very odd but if you got it from a legitimate business then I'm sure it's correct.

Could be a VHO ballast/bulb versus HO. Never seen that in a CFL but I'm sure sure they could be out there.

BTW My gro Info:
I do not know the strains because this is my first grow and it was seeds out of my stash that I have been collecting over time.
I germed them using the paper towel method, and they veged for about 5 weeks on a 18/6 light cycle. I have (2) 23 watt 5600k cfl's in the back and the (2) cfl's in the front are 26 watt 5000k.
I purchased a timer and have added one 26 watt 2700k bulb to replace one of the 23w. The light cycle has been on 12/12 for 3 days now and this morning I had to toss my first male. My last 4 have not shown signs of sex yet.

I will plug in 3 of the new 33 watt bulbs and leave the one 26watt 2700k cfl right where it is...take a pic then see if there is any noticeable difference.

I dont know, the 33w small bulbs dosnt really seem to give out less light than the bigger 26w one. Its just small. And as for brightness, it is defiantly not as bright as before but when is soft white bulbs ever brighter than daylight bulbs.

So would you guys recommend keeping the (3) 33 watt 2700k bulbs and just believe that their a smaller design for a VerHighOutput ballast? Or should I continue to flower my plants with (1) 26w 2700k, (1) 23w 5600k, and (2) 26w 5000k?

Nothing? I have kept the smaller 33w cfl's...Guess we will try to see the difference. I hope my girls enjoy it.
