I need help, I have a 150watt HPS light and was wondering if I should use HPS during Veg and Flowering or 3 or 4 42watt CFL's(200 watt equiv.) and switch to HPS during flowering?????

Any responses= +REP

How many plants, and what size grow area? Those CFLs should give about the same results as the HPS in veg, unless you plan to veg more than 16-18". That's when they'll start stretching because of lack of light penetration, so the HPS would be a better option at that size.

With a reflector, each of those CFLs will cover a plant effectively, especially if you plan to keep then under 18" in veg. Without a reflector, you'll have to use two CFLs per plant, because alot of the light will be dispersed, and lost. Reflectors are REALLY worth the investment, trust me. :)

thanx and im planning on doing just 1 or 2 plants.where do they have those CFL reflectors? the demensions of my grow tent are 17" x 17" x 42"

i think you should get or make a second tent and veg in one with the cfl's and flower in the other with the hps that way there is less waiting between harvests. i also agree with jawbrodt, cfl's give about the same results in veg up to a certain hight.

I vegged my girl in a rubbermaid with dual spectrums...Then moved her under the 400w hps....As they will need more of the blue spectrum during veg....The hps has more red to it.....
