Amazon will ship replacements no questions asked. They resend the whole kit if you need something replaced. Had a fan grind out, got a whole new kit in 2 days and 30 days to return just the fan.

If you are using a tent and your walls suck in you have good air exchange. But yea I'm not sure the math but i always assumed putting a filter on the fan drops it down to about 33% of its effectiveness

Yes they cave in to a good extent and have 20% power left to turn up on the speed dial if I wanted even more negative pressure. As mentioned though, need to get odor control though so this PC fan will be a thing of the past soon. Until I do space buckets and micro grows for fun.

What is that box? It just made me remember something awesome, silencers! like duct fan muffler or to enclose the fan in a box. That I read, helps reduce sound considerably. Is that what that box is? Looking that up right now.
The box acts like a silencer. You can hardly hear my fans. I also add a silencer to further reduce noise.

Update, got the carbon filter (6” Vivosun) and put my Vortex to use. It works great, only smell carbon coming out the extaust.

Might need a stronger static pressure fan during the end of the filters life if it gets dusty, but I know where to find them now thanks to here.

This is my first carbon filter and did not know what to expect. The Active Air speed dial tip was awesome, hard to find dials that don’t say “Not for brushless motors.”

It isn’t loud at medium level. On full power though at 39 cfm at 1”H2O, this isn’t that strong as I suspected. I wonder what you could compare a filter to in terms of inches in H20.

For what its worth, I have that 6" Vivosun fan and filter. My first grow never made it to flower as all 4 seeds popped were male, but 2 of the plants had a serious attitude problem and would pick random days to completely stink up the entire house so much you could smell it walking up to the front door. I was just growing in the bathroom. No tent or anything. When the wife smelled it, she ok'd the purchase of the fan and filter. I put them together and just stood them in the corner of the bathroom and never had a smell issue again. No issues with dust or anything. I just dug that fan and filter out of the barn and ordered a new pre-filter off Amazon and got it hung up and running in the tent last night. It is no louder than the bathroom exhaust fan.

Lol that was what was happening here pretty much with just veg plants. was going to switch this to the flower tent when it is here.

Was going to replace with a 4” filter and fan since they’re cheaper. I haven’t found a 4” fan that has high pressure though, just 6”. Don’t need this much for the veg tent, but already had the $300 fan so why not use it and only spend $100 for dial and filter.

Yeah it had times where the whole house smelled and time where it did not. Now theres zero smell lol.

Edit: Actually as mentioned about the Vortex VTX series has 4” ones at over 100 cfm in 1”H2O.
