Captain Ahab's Nirvana Bubblelicious and Ice T8 SOG

Well had an amazing stroke of luck today. Just now I snipped off a wierd, deformed bud tip on a BB2 just because it pissed me off, and upon closer inspection, found it to have two big, fat, unopened male flowers on it. Checked the other two BB2 plants, and sure enough, they all hermed. That's fine, because BB2 went ugly and stretchy after cloning. I'd already planned on trashing her genetics, but hoped to at least get a harvest out of her.

That's fine. The girls were getting a lil crowded. More space for everyone! And since I'm out of bud, Now i have a nice big pile of trichomey green popcorn to smoke if i get bored.

Most Cannabis plants are dioecious, meaning they have imperfect (male or female) flowers. What we growers commonly refer to as a hermaphrodite, is actually called a monoecious plant- male flowers on a female plant- both sexes of imperfect flower on the same individual. A TRUE hermaphroditic flower is a single flower bearing both male and female organs; a perfect flower. This true hermaphrodite is considerably less common in Cannabis plants than monoecious individuals.

I've also never seen a photograph of such an occurrence, so here's mine.



In this closeup, we can see the two feathery stigma atop the shiny, dark, unripened ovary, flanked by the larger "naners" or stamen, all enclosed by the green sepals.

Looks good! Sub'd. Ice has had my eye for my next grow, and I want a male or two. Really want to start making my own strains and the Ice and Trainwreck strains are what I want to use for pollen. You gotta let me know what the Ice is like when you smoke. Just smoked some blue widow I grew last night, 2 hits and I was done! Now, if I caould only cross that with another potent strain, hmmmmmmmm.........

Sure, man... harvest and cure and smoke will all be here, with lots of pictures. Glad to have you here. Ice is definitely looking promising. All the preflowers on the plant are already plump and completely frosted... they started doing this long before flowering. I feel you about making your own strains. My next grow will be growing for seeds as well... I have Nirvana White Widow seeds in the fridge... along with more Ice seeds so i can get a male. I want to procure some African and maybe Thai sativas, as well as Deep Chunk, all to mix with my best ice and bubblelicious mothers. I'm hoping for a real sweet flavour from the Bubblelicious, so i can use that. The goal is to have a big variety of lots of seeds I'm interested in and made myself, to start a lil selective breeding program.

Right on! That's my plan too. I have a kick ass strain in the blue widow. Just smoked a bowl that had to be harvested 6 weeks into flower. Just the top of one cola because it snapped comepletely off, I built a new flowering room in my closet and it happened when I moved her. Not a complete loss though! The buds were frosty as all hell then, even more now. So, i dried and cure about a gram dry. Haven't had a high like this in a long time! Very good stuff! Not stoned, or baked, more like obliterated is the word. Anyways, I was also looking at a few strains to cross and came upon a good candidate for pollen, world of seeds diamond line Space from attitude. I'm really on my first grow still but, i am doin a pretty good job so far. Got cloning down, harvesting and curing seems good, Figured out the right nutrient mix, even saved a plant from serious stunting and she is now in flower. Now I just need a male or two and I'll be a happy man!

The Ice plants alone... very consistent. Perhaps I'll take a male from the remainder of these seeds I didn't germ.

Just knocked over my lil radiator onto 3 of my Bubblelicious plants....busted off 2 big branches. Tied them up, hopefully they'll recover. Blows.

oh noooooooo .. you should think about cloning those two branches.

I think they're going to be ok. They just need to heal. Luckily it's still relatively early in flowering.
