I've seen all sort of of threads of people from different states, and countries making threads so they can communicate to each other about different obstacles and variables that they are facing/going to face throughout their season, and I thought we Canadian growers should have a thread too!

This is a place where we can talk about the weather, frost dates, crop hoppers, cops, strains that thrive in our beautiful country, bugs, and other variables that are currently affecting us.

I'll start it off by answering a question I commonly find on this board... frost dates..

Another thing I'd like to know is; What is everybody growing this season? I'm near Kingston, Ontario, and I'm growing Strawberry Cough, Alaskan Ice, Himalayan Gold, The Church, EasyRyder, and Texada Timewarp.

DISCUSS!!!

My last crop was strawberry cough, 4 plants in 5gal DWC under 1000w hps. I've got six white widow clones on the go right now.

I'm still debating if I'm going to grow outdoors this year. Just sick of the hassle.....

I grew 5 alaskan Ice from greenhouse as an experiment last season.I let them go to a day or two after Halloween.they endured about 5-6 frosts up until then. They were nowhere near done.Probabley needed another 3-4 weeks.I'm at 46 degrees Lat.

My 70 bubblegums done good.Mold issues with the cold wet weather though are common for this area

If someone grew on my property I'd take it. Most people on RIU would shit a brick if you did, but fuck it, it's your land, and they knew the risk of planting on another persons property, fair game.

i know man normaly if i found plants, i wouldn't be ignorant enough to take them , cause we all know how it feels to be ripped off, but these fuckers came across my fence and planted in the middle of my property, so i said fuck it my land my weed now motherfucker, not like i didn't have enough of my own already growing, it was just the fact they had as much land as i did and still decided to come to my property

Hey I'm from Vancouver. I'll be spreading some plants around some mountain plots this summer. I'm glad to find a thread dedicated to Canadian outdoor grows, I'm a relative noob, so looking forward to learning something here. I've become pretty well read, but nothing replaces experience...especially local experience.

I've got 4 strains growing from seed (3-7 days old). Himalaya Gold, Aryans Haze #1, The Church and La Woman. I'll be taking clones from these plants. I've read that Aryans Haze #1 is a very late finisher (Nov), not sure if that applies to my latitude, but it may not be the best strain for outdoor in my kneck of the woods, I'm thinking about doing 4 patio plants with this strain and try to protect it from the weather come Nov or harvest early if no other choice. The Church and HG are supposed to be well suited, so I think these 2 will be the main outdoor strains.

Anyone else plant outdoors in the Lower Mainland???

Hey Vansterdam.

I think you will be safe with the strains you chose. Vancouver has really early, and really late frost dates, so from what I've heard (and seen) you can pretty much grow any strain out there because of it.

You guys get your first frost sometime mid November, and remember, just because a frost hits your patch doesn't mean it will die. My friends have had patches that have been hit like 4 or 5 times with frost and they were still standing.

As for The Church and HG, those are two solid outdoor strains. I too and growing those here in Ontario.

Hope this helps man!

Hi all, i am from northern Minnesota near the tip of Lake superior, I'm looking to start my first crop this year and I was wondering when a good date would be to start growing outside, also lookin for a new bud hook up! Everything around here is dirt bud and very expensive, their is a large market for it here but nobody knows where the dark is at, when it does come around it's gone the same day. If somebody could hit me up it would be greatly appreciated I'm a 21 year old in desprate need of some GOOD buds! And btw Canada rocks, the hockey game was sick the other day
Hey man.

You should be fine planting outdoors anytime after mid-May.

As for bud hook ups. I don't think looking for bud hook ups on this forum is permitted, and if it were, I wouldn't recommend it. You never know who's on these forums man.. cops.. RCMP.. you never know man.

Yeah, I'm not too concerned with frost. In Nov the rains can come down pretty constant. I'm more worried about mold, spcifically with the Arjans Haze. I'll just have to keep an eye on the forecast and maybe take the AH down early if it's not looking good. Wouldn't want several lbs of AH all molded up :weed:
