Can you cure anyway?

So are you saying the humidity content of the bud during curing is of no value?

As long as you are above 55% RH, is CBGA still not being converted to other compounds like THC, as well is chlorophyll still being broken down. It is said these activities are halted under that RH level.

A Boveda pack can remoisten over dried bud, but it can not help the destroyed terpenes and lack of chlorophyll break-down. So would humidity then be of value?

The only reason I mention that is, if I get store-bought-dried-uncured bud and attempt to cure it, it does increase in aroma and smoothness. However not nearly as much of an improvement as if I took bud that just finished drying and cured it at the correct RH at the correct time.
A lot of this is wrong, a dead cell cant reabsorb water as per biology.

That is why it is important to not over-dry and retain relatively high humidity.

I was just saying the visibly dusty-dry bud can become reasonably moist to the touch. Even when you break it up you can tell a difference with how the bud crumbles or doesn't. It just doesn't help the terpenes.

Once the cell detaches from the cell wall it is game over as far as that goes.

So do you know what is actually going on here?

My bud has never turned to dust ever no matter how ive dried :-)
Even if you "over" dry? Ie: say you would cut and jar at 5 days, and you left the buds hanging until 8 days, the buds would not become crumbly?

High or low humidity a cell wont loose water any faster that a certain rate. This is why it takes a week.

Add heat to this equation and we shorten the dry time as heat can force moisture whereas humidity is such a weak pressure and tails off at a certain rate.

So a question to you and hopefully to show the importance of each variable -

: You grow the best damn weed ever, its stinking out your whole town and finally it is harvest time but you ONLY have two choices of room to dry in...

- A hot room with perfect humidity or a low humidity room with perfect temperature.

Now after ive discussed heat and humidity and ONLY on those two factors - which room do you choose...?

i don't smoke anything but flowers. i dont even think you can buy anything at the dispenseries here but flowers. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/390404674219409410/549305958757695489/20190224_090535.jpg

too wet lmfao they are not as bad though trim job super shitty but planning to try wet trimming on this current grow and see what happens gonna air dry um like that 1 hour per day for about 3-4 days then burp 30mins a day by the time they done curing probably harvest time on my next grow.

Id be dissapointed if you didnt sacrifice just one small three gram bud to this natural two week dry for eqch of your nezt few grows dude. Cool comparison and you get to learn another way that works (id say better).

i leave you disappointed then lmfao. no i didn't learned from my mistakes so moving forward next time i think i can run um a good 2 weeks now though getting to see how moist they still are today would of been day 5 if i left them on still.

I will dry one of 2 ways. Plants taken before sunrise, whole plant hung on line inside for 14 days. They are a tad "crisp" at 14 days, 1 day in the jar pretty much brings them right to where I want them.
I leave all non damaged or dying leaves on for the full 14 days.................trim when dry. This is my usual method, and have never had "poor" Bud letting it hang for 2 weeks. This dry will normally result in "Styrofoam" feeling Buds, which is exactly what I like. I will usually only need to check the jars for 1-2 days after placing them in there, and 90 % of the time 1 burping is all that is needed.

I have recently tried another method shown to me by an over sea's grower friend. I have only done 1 time, but tomorrow 5 full plants are being done this way. Leave Buds on their stalk, remove all the fan's, but leave the bud leaf on. Roll up 2 or 3 "arms" in 3 or 4 thickness of newspaper..................not tight, not loose, wad up the ends. Place somewhere for 2 weeks without opening them.

The 1 test I did of this was EXCEPTIONAL..........................perfect color, taste, smell, and texture. Even better than my usual 14 day hang dry..................This harvest tomorrow I will take 1/4 of the run and dry in this method, the rest my normal 14 day routine. See if there is any REAL difference.

Those of you that think a 3-5 day hang dry is FINE............................are killing 50% of your Bud's potency...................and your buds ARE NOT dry in 5 days.............unless your heat is like 90 degree's or you have WAY too much air moving. My last harvest that was jarred 3 or 4 days ago went 15 days hanging, at about 65-70 degree's and maybe 60 % humidity. 7 days in they APPEAR dry, and feel dry to the touch, but the real MAGIC happens when you allow the Bud's to slowly lose their inner water over the next 7 days. YOU WILL NOT ruin your Bud by getting it too dry................in fact, my best results occur when I feel the Bud is a touch too dry..........1 jar day brings it right back to where I want it(52 % or so, 62 is WAY too wet for my tastes)

As ALWAYS........................JMHO.........................lol

Low Humidity room with perfect temperature, as terpenes are highly volatile.

The high heat room would increase the dry rate, making it almost the same thing as being in a low RH room, but it's also damaging terpenes.

But I don't see how this translates to humidity not being of high importance during the cure?

think the news paper is supposed to help draw out more moisture. i've seen people done stuff like that with paper bags. we do that at my job as well on green onions. it helps to keep them more crisp longer versus just putting them as is in the fridge. after like a day or 2 in the fride the paper is no longe crispy but the green onions still are.

See thats quite a statement refering to low rh as the same as heat in reference to organic matter drying.

In theory bud placed in a room at ten degrees celcius but with low humidity would also over dry in three days or so and to a crisp i believe your sqying.

There in lies the problem with your assumption of humidiy and its effects. Heat was far more important at drying humidity a mere after thought.

Futher to this the effect of humidity are defeated by air exchange in that no matter what the humidity air flow can constantly remove moisture or clothes wouldnt dry the world over.

Hopefully that all makes sense :-)

Not necessarily, one could get 3-7 days at 30% RH with adequate temperatures. However, I do not see a 14 day cure at 30% RH and 21C.

Just to clarify, I believe they are mutually exclusive in that dry time is sped up in the presence of either very low humidity or very high heat, but they are very different elements.

I wouldn't put one over the other, I believe they're both crucial to a good dry and cure.

14 days is just the earliest i find it worth smoking at, can dry for longer.

Past all this there have been many posts by others who simply hang dry for two weekss and more even a few going futher to discredit a lot of the more modern speil on dryimg and curing.

These companies, leds, recent ego growers here, legal, med, rec....etc they had to change the product but they werent clever they just trolled idiotic side ideas that never really amounted to anything.

They want your money support and anger on social media, old strains vs new - dude they all as strong there is no new super strength hybrid.

Where do the lies stop and the real farmers start - :-)

Real easy way a lot of us follow and learnt here -

Curing is not needed for dank ass smokabale bud - certainly large scale farmers arent jarring weed up for the cartel like this either.

Simply hang for two weeks in the right place in your house, a well ventillated room or wherever works best. After a week it will seem dry but after two it will be smooth enough to smoke.

Were job done here, sell up and smoke up :-)

Oh yer that all important "wont smoke without it cure". - So the dried smokable bud wants storing because lets face it no one can smoke a whole harveat in a night :-)

So its dry and hopefully lost all the moisture it needed to. Put it in a jar and check its still bone dry in 24 hours, do this a few more days - it should stay dry or at worse need a few more days air drying, take it out and do that if it happens.

So a few days to a week pass and it stays dry no change - you can now leave it for long times safe it wont mold.

But wait dosent the cure impart some magical pixie dank dust onto said bud....? No fuck off this is science - that bud still has a fractional amount of moisture locked in it or it would crumbke to dust. I must point out well below levels mold can use, but enough that some futher degredation of chlorophyll and conversion of whatever chems to whatever will slowly happen. Expect a smoother smoke and maybe a slightly stronger bud - it aint going to make or break the bud - you need well grown bud and well dried going in or you wont get much better out.

Jar wet weed and the equation points to mold - bud takes time to dry and is a skill not something you can learn by merely reading.

Hope that helps and others expand your situation - this is the easy and best way to begin :-)
we cure ours in pound bags alot of people told us it could not be done but we do it every 3 months first lot was a start sale with about a p to cure then we run the pull lot wile we cure the fresh pull in bags for 1-2 months then sell and repeat
