Example:

Domestic dispute occurs. No violence but both parties are very loud and angry.
Cops are called by neighbors.
Cops come to the door and it is answered by one half of the domestic dispute.
The person is angry and complains to the cops that the other person is/was growing marj.
Let's assume both people own the house.
Cops then ask the angry party if it is ok to search the premises.
Angry person gives the green light for a search. Other person says NO but cops don't listen.
Cops find lighting equipment, nutrients, R/O system, pots and ducting all stored away in boxes and not in use.
Cops see patched holes on the ceilings in 2 seperate rooms which are not fully repaired.

No drugs or paraphernalia are found but one half of the "domestic" dispute says that those particular items were used for growing maryj and accuses the other half of growing.

Lets say these things happened in this order. Just assuming it could happen, and we all know it can. What would be the worst thing that could happen?

Can they arrest you on suspicion of growing? They have the word of the other person and all the items in front of them.

But there is no other evidence in the house. What are the possibilities here?
You could say you were growing tomatos  and then you can tell the cops your anger party is on crack =D

thats why dont just grow weed grow what ever you like ever tried to clone a pineapple?

Good point! I always grow lots of other things too and hide my stash way to well during times when I am not growing. As in they would have to bring shovels and do a lot of digging! And for just a jar or two of weed, I just don't think so! The main stash is at another location entirely!

And to get more indepth into Hotwired's hypothetically situation:
-Nothing illegal on the premises? There will be no arrest!
-Having hydroponic equipment is not illegal, so they can't even get a warrant to come back later - it will never hold up in court!
-You ARE now on their radar, thanks to your worse-half...
-They can come back and do a Knock and Talk... https://www.rollitup.org/toke-n-talk/63247-knock-talk-police-doing-your.html
-Both own the home, both lose the home!
-You can probably never grow at that residence again!
-Shortly after starting a new grow, expect a knock on the door!
-You should NEVER grow again period, as long as you are in that unstable relationship!!!

I'm just saying...

If the cops found a box full of blades, duct tape, garbage bags, rope, handcuffs and sex toys could they convict one of anything?

Can you be arrested for it? Absolutely, but that doesn't mean much. Just like you can sue someone because you don't like the way they look, it will be thrown out of court or in your case, the prosecutor while tell the cops to pound sand.. Owning a light is not a crime in America.

Do yourself a favor and research your city/county/state laws and read up on YOUR marijuana law. Easy enough to do, google "My County laws" or "My State laws"and you will find a database. Search in that for marijuana. Check out norml.org too.

As far as searching your house, the Police only need permission from ONE adult residing there. Do you have your crazy ex-brother-in-law who thinks he can fly living in your basement closet for a month? He can give police consent to search. Be careful whom you invite to live with you.

Finally, unless you are very desperate and cannot find another mate, please split-up, divorce, move out, or do whatever you need to do, but this is not a person who cares about you. Save the heat of the moment BS, they tried to have you incarcerated for a good long while. This is not a person who cares about you.

From what I understand police can't enter your home if any of the residents say no to the search. You just need to be there to tell them no.

23. Can someone else consent to a search of my property?
This depends on the circumstances. The Supreme Court has ruled that any occupant of a residence can refuse consent, even if other roommates agree to a search. Unfortunately, you must be present in order to assert your refusal. For this reason, it’s important to make sure that your roommates understand their 4th Amendment rights in case something happens when you’re not around. You may want to talk to your roommates about how to handle police visits and reach an agreement about how to handle such situations just in case.
As a general rule, police can obtain consent to search from anyone with control over the property. Someone who has a key, or whose name appears on the lease, can legally consent to a search of the property if no one else is present, or if no one else objects. If you rent the property, be advised that your landlord can also let the police in.
Finally, keep in mind that the courts often determine your “expectation of privacy” on a case-by-case basis. Keeping your room locked and maintaining control of your personal space can help protect you if a roommate ever lets police in. If your room is off-limits to your roommates and their friends, courts will often rule that it is off-limits to police as well.

Picasso said it right. They could so arrest and charge you.. for another example, Intention to manufactore Meth in some states ARkansas u.S can bring you criminal charges. So having all those legal otc means you have the tool and intent to make meth...probably the same for pot. Should be anyway. illegal is illigal.
