Can I use sugar alone instead of molasses? Or at least temporarily?

I just got done reading about the importance of molasses in flowering and although I read about the potassium/magnesium (I think those were the 2 metals mentioned) helping growth a lot it seems the plants also processes the actual sugar too.

I already ordered the molasses and have it coming, but was wondering if 1 tablespoon of sugar in a gallon would do anything before it comes? It could take another 3-5 days for it to get here and I'm already at week 5 of flowering. My buds are very tiny and I was thinking maybe a shot of regular sugar might give them a boost untill the molasses gets here?

It is not the sucrose the plant absorbs, it is the carbohydrates.
and yes these are readily available for use by the plant in the production of essential oils and resins.

try honey instead of sugar

why did u hav to order mollasses, just pik it up at grocery store. u can use sugar, but it has to b raw sugar, labled and also avaiable at grocery store.

If you must use sugar, try brown sugar. It still has some nutrional value, refined white sugar has everything else stripped away.

Black strap is the best as it has the most vitamins and minerals, most grocery stores don't sell black strap.

I'd wait. I don't think molasses makes a noticeable difference anyway, other than getting your soil all sticky.lol Okay, to clarify, I'm not saying that it has no benefit at all,(I use it sometimes) I'm just saying that it won't make any difference if they go without, for awhile. I wouldn't risk using sugar or anything,(while waiting) because they'll provide little, if any, improvement. That'll only add risk, and isn't worth it, IMO.

dont add it to you rez bad idea, there is proper products design for hydro growing with sugar and carbs in them

Agreed. I'm not a hydro guy, but I've read about guys getting their reservoirs all gummed-up, from using molasses.
