So I am in San Francisco and bought a bong here. I was wondering if I put it in my check on bag will tsa confiscate it or anything like that? It is unused and clean. :wall::wall::wall::wall:

if it is legal in the state of california(which im positive it is lol) and if it is legal to possess unused paraphenalia(not sure if this is the correct spelling lol) in the state you are flying to it shouldnt be a problem however at the airport they may give you a hard time about it plus doing something like that may raise a few suspicions with the security there. I'd be worried about being pulled into a interrogation room personally!

i would never purchase something like and risk carrying it on a plane... also what if it breaks from the airport staff tossing around your bags/luggage?

Don't think that's what he's asking. Think he's asking if it's just a piece of glass with no history, can it be confiscated. If you tell them it's a narrow neck vase with a watering hole, and they have no legal ability to claim it's used for other things, because as you say, it never has. However America is America so that might be worth bearing in mind, goodness knows what they'd claim constituted paraphernalia. For example if they found a clean unused syringe, would they confiscate them because they are heroin needles? But they're just needles with no prior history. Would you be able to post ot to yourself at all?

If in doubt stick it in your checkin and start praying :D I've not taken things through US airports but around 2006 or such, i happily carried some replica pistols and some weed around the world with me just keeping it in me suitcase, although again, America being America, TSA certainly seem to have gone a bit batshit nuts over the past year or so.

theres the best idea ive heard yet!! get a carboard box, go to the local post office where you're at or even a local UPS/FEDEX and pay to have it shipped to your home. you definitely wont get in any shit for that! just make sure you get insurance for it

Other than the fact that baggage handlers rather enjoy manhandling baggage, partly because that's the easiest way to do their job. They're not expecting more than clothes and the airlines insurance will cover any damages they cause. If it's a pricey piece i'd seriously just insure and post it.

There wont be any legal issues transporting an unused bong. However my worry would be that the airline will break it. Have you seen how the airline guys throw around and stack checked luggage? Even carry-on baggage isn't a home run either; often when flying on a smaller airplane you'll be asked to let them stow your carry-on luggage with the checked luggage, and just pick it up on the gate.

Unused there is nothing that they can say. NOTHING. They may check through your other luggage a little closer though.
So what if they pull you into interogation, have fun with it, screw with there heads.

But if it was me, sending by insured mail would be the only way. Is there a reason you do not want to send it by mail.

Yeah I've seem the airline people like throwing the bags in the plane. I'm probably gonna wrap it in a couple of jackets. That would be terrible if it broke before I even got to use it.
