Why can I not find this question answered anywhere? why cant i just bring my aerogarden outside, take the lamp off, and let my plant thrive and breath in the open air?

is it something to do with the constant watering and it would melt because of the lumens of the sun? cant i just put it outside? help! :peace:

I've placed my AG, hood and all, next to a window with direct sunlight. I've noticed significant improvements in growth when coupled with the hood. Only drawback is that water now evaporates from the reservoir more quickly. You'll have to keep a close eye on the water level.

But would it last outside in the heat? would the motor not burn up? I live in the southeastern united states and its very nice out lately, I dont want to give my aeroGarden a sun burn, you know what i mean?

you said you had yours indoors in direct sunlight from a window. is that to keep it cool because of the heat outside? or becuase you just didnt want it outside? otherwise, im putting my aerogarden outside starting tomorrow and its going to be successful, hopefully. Can you try and answer my questions?:joint:

I'm sure it would be fine, you would just have to seriously keep an eye on it.

well what I ultimately don't understand, is why doesn't EVERYONE do this, instead of suffer with the small head lamp and go through the process of buying more lights? isnt sunlight the best light for every part of growing weed? I understand HPS is great because of UV and sunlight at the end of the year is best because of UV, but

my plant is about to flower, its been in 12/12 for almost 2 weeks. should I put it outdoors now or tomorrow or whatever, or wait until I see hairs? :joint:

I would imagine the res water would get extremely hot and cook the roots.

that's a great point, and I think the answer I was looking for. I couldnt word it right, but I knew some kind of heat would hurt something. Do you think if I filled the res with some ice with the water equivalent of the liters you're supposed to use, that it would save the reservoir from getting too hot? in between waterings it would have time to melt and release a cooldown.. im afraid though, do you think the ice would SHOCK the roots? :joint:

What kinds of res chillers are available? I'm having warm water issues...

inside of an aerogarden deluxe? or a home made aerogarden? ive found no warm water issues with my res but, I dont have a HPS or anything haha..

wat about wraping the ress in mylar or something of that nature. and if your plants are bushy and big enough, no ligth should be hitting the ress anyway cuz its blocked by the bush

what about puttin the ag into a trash bag and then puting it all in a cooler with ice water. the cooler would definatly stay cold for the duration of the day, and as long as the bag doesnt leak, the ag should be good

First of all, I agree that direct sunlight is the best. HOWEVER, not all of us have the luxury of being able to grow outside or have a long growing season. But anyways, I'm thinking with the black small res the water is going to get too warm. You could try putting ice in it daily....I don't know, but keep us posted!!! I'm curious!

my water is a bit warm also, but I started with warm water when I changed out my res last. This is the first time I have put warm water in the res like that so I'm thinking that the temp that you put it in has alot to do with how warm it stays.

Outside though I think all bets are off. If you have the white unit it will be hot, if it's the black one, it'll fry.
