Can cops really find your growop with that so called infared system?

I was planning to start growing a couple plants for personal use, when i stumbled across this article on how cops use infared detectors to catch people who grow weed. This is the article that i found. Growing Marijuana Indoors Detection

Also do u think they would be able to catch you only if you were growing 1 or 2 plants?

The last I heard & I certainly can't swear to this... Is that the supreme court ruled in unconstitutional for law enforcement to use FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared) on peoples homes to look for marijuana grows (or anything else for that matter) without a warrant. & of course with a warrant they can just come on in @ that point anyway. Basically it says they can't just drive thru a neighborhood looking in random ppl's homes for anything suspicious. Like I said i can't swear to this & I may be wrong but that's how i understand it.

And you might also want to consider that even if they can't legally do it, well that just means it wouldn't be able to be used in court, but it's still possible that they could do it illegally to find an operation and once they find it then chances are good they could start building a case against you that would never require them mentioning that they used FLIR to find you.

Anyway I don't wanna make you completely paranoid but if you wanna do this then I suggest you make sure that you do your grow in a place that you can make light tight. Use black plastic & whatever else you may need to to keep any of your light leeking out thru windows or underneath doors or wherever. & that just covers light. If you are worried about FLIR that will detect heat as well. So if you just wanna do 1 or 2 plants like you said then if possible do it in an underground basement or in a closet that's near the center of the house that doesn't have wall or window that is on the exterior of your house. If you can find a place like that you will be completely safe.

Again, i don't think anyone needs to be paranoid but just take reasonable measures to make things safe. If you do have a window or whatever in your room I would put black plastic up over it, but first put a nice looking curtain or something in there first so it doesn't look like a window w/ black plastic stapled up over it in there. Then if you are concerned about the heat (& i don't know if this works) maybe put up a piece of plywood over it & then a mylar safety blanket. Not only will the mylar reflect light back into your room but I understand it's supposed to reflect 90+ percent of the heat back too.

If I have any facts wrong then plz someone correct me on them.

also one more thing. Again if you only wanna grow 1 or 2 plants & are concerned about the heat then check out the stuff on growing w/ floro's. They run much cooler & if you just wanna do 1 or 2 then you could prolly pull them off without needing to worry much about an abnormally high heat signature.

seriously now, a 1000 watt hps light gives off less heat than a medium sized space heater. chill out, half the houses on your block will show hot spots. you only have to worry if you are doing a big grow with lots of lights.

do worry about your sister's ex-boyfriend, however.

growers know more about flir than most cops do, and if they was too scan everyones house i hope they have alotta time too sort out the mess they make with false warrents being dished out. that readup is meant too make flir look like the dogs balls, but infact its kinda rubbish tbh.

most powerful flirs require a massive amount of cooling eg: liquid nitrogen petlers etc etc. oh and the part where it says ANY HEAT SOURCE, they lie a big lie too sell there equiptment.

if your that worried look at longbow assult choppers they run very expensive flir thats real IR at work not the el cheopo grade stuff the cops use. flir is also used by fire departments, earthquake searchers etc etc. there is tons of info about exactly what flir can and cant do. your best start is wikipedia and searching flir technology. gives you the lowdown on the dirrent types and what they can and cant do.

They also said it was about useless in the daytime, which if you are smart is when the lights should be on anyway. Is it harder trying to hide a 1000 watt hps during the day or at 2am ??? A lot of people think that since they are trying to be sneaky they have their lights on at night when no one is up, the light shines thru cracks you never even know about but in the daytime the sun filters it.

FLIR works day or night, I used to repair FLIR systems for the government. Our FLIR systems liquefied oxygen to use as a coolant and was only 11 degrees higher than absolute zero temp. Can it see what your growing? absolutely not. not unless you got some major wattage in use 10,000 watts plus. Do not worry about it.

I wasn't aware infrared could penetrate even a solid board of gypsum. I know radio signals can, but infrared? If that were true remotes would work thru the walls.

So, looking at it from a purely physics POV, no. Now if you're running enough lighting to heat up the house physically, then odds are possible they would (although by that point and time, they're probably knocking on your door wondering about the HUGE power spike.)

Do you know where I can get a deal on an infrared camera, not video, just one that does stills ?

Are they still around $10,000 ?

If they are, they're probably looking for huge grows like 100's of plants. That might be pretty obvious on infered. Most average personal grows or even smaller commerical grows probably wouldnt be noticed to much.
