that one don't count either, same reason as tobacco, even though more people are admitted to hospital for tobacco related incidents than marijuana and drinking is even worse, accident and emergency is always full on a friday and saturday night of over swelled egos that got knocked back down to earth.

so no, despite how shitty these two "drugs" are they do not count as they can be taxed and the gov has a stake in it.
Who gives a shit if they tax it that isn't even relevant.

I first tried cigarettes before anything, albeit if i did
not start smoking cigarettes i would have never bothered
with anything else.

But i don't smoke cigarettes no longer, pointless imo.

The Gateway Drug in respect to cannabis is just a myth perpetuated by the anti-pot propagandists-

Fact:- The vast majority of drug users (ie, illegal drugs, including pot) started with tobacco and/or alcohol.

Fact:- 60% of heroin and cocaine users smoked pot before they got onto the other.

Fact:- 80% of people who start smoking pot *never* go on to use heavier/harder drugs.

Fact:- Every study conducted in places where marijuana has been decriminalized show no increase in cocaine, meth and heroin use. There is some evidence to show an increase in weed smokers. However, this could be attributed to more people admitting to using the drug through less fear of persecution or prosecution.
One would expect, if the 'gateway' myth were true, there would be a marked increase in hard drug users in those places.

Given those facts, it would be reasonable to call weed a 'terminus' drug. Meaning it is a drug people stop at, rather than move on from.

worlds supposed to end in 2012 or something it was all the rage last year lol

in my younger days i did a lot of coke, acid, shrooms, microdots, smoked some crack, and snorted meth ONCE...that shit fucked me up for 3 days, ended up in a bathroom of some people i didnt know doing an 8 ball with a friend that some guy who just robbed the crack man gave us...after that i realized that drugs are the devil and weed is the best thing on earth....not tomention that ive never feared for my life hanging out with potheads lol...

the only way that i can concieve of it being a 'gateway' is that they hype it so much as being so terrible, (i mean do you ever see a public service announcment that says hey dont shoot herion? but they show some potheads taking off at 60mph from a drivethru and creaming a little girl on a bike...and by the way whats a little kid doing riding a bike alone in front of a busy fast food restuarant?) that when people finally do try it for themselves theyre like hey this isnt ANYTHING like they said it was, maybe crack isnt so bad either...

Ive done every single drug you can think of I think, I only choose to smoke weed now because when I smoke, I have no desire to want to do other drugs....Label it what you want but what I know for sure is that it helps me out in so many positive ways I cant explain....I remember when I use to shoot heroin, I would stay away from smoking bud...Not because the high wasn't good enough or it took too long to get out of my system....It was because I could not stick a needle in my arm while I was stoned, I just kept thinking how gross and disgusting it was....Marijuana makes me look at things in a different perspective, that I feel are positive....So when I smoke, doing any other type of drug just doesn't look appealing to me:peace::hump:

I have only ever smoked sweet, sweet mary jane, and tripped on some shrooms and salvia. I like drugs that I feel expand my consciousness. I had a buddy stash some meth in my dorm room one time, so I have seen it but I would never touch the shit. My basic rule for doing drugs: If it comes naturally from the earth, makes you trip, and is very difficult or impossible to OD on then it is not a bad drug. Given those rules I probably shouldn't drink booze but I do. Otherwise it is just the natural drugs for me. I would like to drop acid once though just to see what it is like.

My first drug was a cigarette, then weed, then booze.

Meth is baaad, mmmmmmkayyyy?

Marijuana and Hemp Story: Marijuana Myths (Page 6 of 10)

Myth: Marijuana is a gateway drug--it leads to harder drugs.
Fact:
The U.S. government's own statistics show that over 75 percent of all Americans who use marijuana never use harder drugs. The gateway-drug theory is derived by using blatantly-flawed logic. Using such blatantly-flawed logic, alcohol should be considered the gateway drug because most cocaine and heroin addicts began their drug use with beer or wine--not marijuana.

Interesting, whoop.. I've always considered alcohol and ciggies to be the REAL gateway drugs, myself.

I've generally been staying away from the meth threads because of my own observations and experience. I'll just say, yes, of course someone can just smoke pot and stay away from meth. They can just smoke pot and do absolutely no other drugs, like me. I don't drink, I don't smoke cigarettes, and with the exception of kidney stones, really extreme back pain and post-surgery, I've managed to stay away from pills, too. I've done my fair share of hallucinatory substances (the peyote was the worst because I truly TRULY hate puking and feeling sick, what a way to ruin a good high).

I've done the meth, and I could feel it killing my body, that shit is poison, but I went through my own thing with it. My boyfriend at the time smoked it, and probably still does. He lost everything, especially his integrity, once he started smoking that shit. As others have posted, including in your link, yes, of course, someone can just stick to the weed.
