California, what to say and bring to doctor's visit

I have an appointment on Wednesday with my general physician, and want to obtain all that is necessary to then make an appointment with the medicann in town and get my card, etc. I have insomnia, but no documented history of it on record at the moment. My friend thinks that I just need my doc to prescribe me sleeping pills for the insomnia, and take that prescription to medicann and claim I don't want to take the meds and that MJ works wonders for me. Will this work? What should I tell my doc to get the pill prescription? Thanks!

when i got my script the first time i brought a bunch of shit but i dont think you really need it
i bet if you just said you were taking sleeping pills and feel that medical mj would be safer which it is as and you wont feel like shit in the morning that yould be ok
but cant say for sure i was way stressed out about getting my script the first time i think alot of the ones giveing recomendation really care and want to help and others just want to make a quick buck either way seems like they are all for giveing out scripts

I was wondering the same thing because I want to get my card but I am extremely stressed out about it. I want to make an appointment but don't want to make one until I know. So thanks. :)

If the doc thinks cannabis can help you, but you don't have any documented history, then he might give you a three month recommendation and ask that you visit a specialist. This is what happened to me when I told my doc about my carpel tunnel and back pain. After I went to a PT I went back and he extended it to a year and I didn't have to pay twice.

However, I did know a guy who went in and was denied. I believe he had a criminal record or maybe he just acted like a dumb ass tweaker, I don't know. I got my card with little to no issue, but they will deny you if you lack a valid reason.

Pt is physical therapy. Looks like it's after the fact. I brought an order for an mri with diagnosis on it, and my prescription bottles.
