California is the worlds 5th largest economy..

A state that invests the results of prosperity in it's people and infrastructure, has strong regulations in place to protect the environment and welcomes immigrants. They have been doing this for a long time and it's a model that can be replicated if other states stop looking for excuses for their lack of success.

California's demographics are about 15 years ahead of the rest of the country. Where California was 10-15 years ago, such as, turmoil in the governor's office, Republican control of legislature and a failing economy is where the US is right now. Hopefully California is showing us what the US will be once the older, whiter morons have moved on.

So you made the move? Jobs, I guess.

Oregon isn't anywhere near the economic powerhouse that Washington or California are. I love the state of Oregon but I recognize that if I lost my job I'd have to consider moving. Still, too bad that you had to move.
Hi Foggy!
Hope your doing well.
Oregon is crazy ass backwards. Stuck in between the powerhouses of WA and CA and so fucked up!
THe state is BEAUTIful green and the coast is the best but the mentality is screwed up big time! I enjoyed exploring the state of Oregon but culturally its simply an absolute bore along with being sick and tired of dealing with the hippy dippy/ redneck bullshit and mean spirited grumpy people, glad to have been given a wonderful opportunity to thrive in sunny California and take care of the beautiful people of Los Angeles County.

I am doing well, thanks.

Oregon IS crazy and ass backwards. You were Eugene area? I'm guessing the art scene was below your standards. If so, I don't think you are wrong.

I grew up in California, moved to Idaho and then to Oregon after about 10 years in Idaho. My focus outside of work is on wilderness and outdoors activities (I'm not a hunter, I just love exploring) . Everywhere I lived I've found good and bad but I've hung onto the good. Lot's of good friends in CA, ID and OR.

But I get what you are saying, especially in the economically fraught areas south of Eugene and east of the Cascades. They haven't recovered from the collapse of the timber and mining industries. People there are a bit strange. Yet, I know some really good people in the Roseburg area. The couple have deep roots in the area and are as sweet and unassuming as anybody could be.

California is a different animal altogether. Higher paced, a lot more people. A lot of them are innovative, highly productive and a workforce that is competitive with anybody in the world. This translates to better wages and jobs for more people. Art scene is world class too.

California economy is trash. Wat crack y'all smoking. It caters to the rich while the other 99% live in there own shit. No way Cali has 5th largest economy. Last year Texas had the world's 10th largest economy, no other state can boast that. But I shall do more research.

Interesting ideas about California in particular here. Instead of secession, the author suggests breaking California up into 5 States, thus gaining more even representation in the Senate.

California should be broken up into 40 million independent states, which is coincidentally the rough number of people who reside there. Thus, each person would gain more actual representation.

Good point.

It's nearly impossible to quantify the exact numbers anyway.

Since much "illegal" economic activity isn't tracked and the "legal" economic activity that is tracked is based on figures of people trying to avoid taxation and tabulated by government bureaucrats making up numbers, while sitting at their desks in between surfing the web for porn and waiting for coffee break to relieve them of the monotony of their useless parasitic jobs.

You can't put a price on quality of life, and California has it all. From conifer and oak laden forests, to fragrant sage and juniper rich deserts, to coast lines that captivate the mind with their utter beauty. We are also blessed with some of the most unique and sustainable climates for agriculture production. I can see why people, especially bigots like rob roy who live in shitholes, are jealous and constantly bad mouth one of the most culturally diverse, and greatest economies in the nation.

Thanks for confirming you'd like to force these poor people from their tax free homes and out of poverty, should we use guns to do it?
I'm afraid I missed the (likely flawed) point of your post. Perhaps you could elaborate?

You see, what much of the homelessness points out are at least two things.

First much of the homelessness is caused by government regulation.

The other is the tragedy of calling some land "public" when it is actually administered by a small group of people, who call themselves government as if THEY were the owners.

I'm not in favor of guns being used as offensive tools, Tool.

I patiently await your response.

Hey meme guy, a question was asked by me a bit ago in which it seems you want to ignore. Lets try this one again.
If your beautiful mom went into a drug store to fill her prescription meds and was told by the owner to get the fuck out because this store refuses to serve females. Calling her a "witchbitch" and to not come back. What would you say ? The next drug store that can do this is about 55 miles out of her way. Thanks
