Buyer Beware: Spider Mites on Clones

A little over a week ago I purchased 4 trainwreck clones from AAHC Ann Arbor Health Collective. They were in dirt, and I transplanted into my DWC. They came to me infested with spider mites. I only gave them a glance when purchasing, and was in a huge rush to get everything done because i was due out of town for business. That is how it slipped through the radar, that and i have noob eyes to mites. I called AAHC today to inform them that their supplier may be selling them clones with mites, they informed me that i wasnt the first to call. They said they may not be doing business with them anymore, but i think they were undecided. Either way, please make sure you scrutinize your clones if you pick them up from a collective.

My intention is not to harm their business or anything of that matter. I am sure they will take more care in selecting their suppliers in the future. This was the first time they offered clones. If you would like to see my mite infested clones they are in my journal, we probably have the situation under control now.

I explained to them first that i was looking for nothing as far as discount or money back, just giving them a heads up. I probably should have asked for something, as this has become a huge pain in the ass, my plants growth is stunted, and now I have to take extra care to make sure they are not elsewhere in my house. luckily i did not have a huge grow op that could have been affected.

Good message but one thing is for sure - had you got them from your compassion club it is highly likely everyone else in the club would of warned you about the guy with spider mite clones - yet another reason to not buy from dispensarys but more of a reason just not to buy clones period.

Club = Buyer's Market
Dispensary = Seller's Market

yea, i'm not a member of a compassion club, me and my girlfriend wouldnt really have the time to go to any meetings or anything. i have a pretty decent network of friends, and could have gone elsewhere for clones. i just figured i would have a good selection from the dispensary, and was in a hurry. when they said they had trainwreck i was quite excited about it being my first grow, now it's just kinda making me disappointed.

Another problem contributing to the spider mite problems her in MI is the darn heat. They multiply out of control in this heat.

this happens all too often when you buy from these co op's. why do so many ganja farmers in michigan have bugs? i truely believe that in michigan, of all the growers, a large percentage are amateurs who do not read to learn but rather just listen to the folktale they hear from other amateur growers. ive met and chatted with ALOT of growers now and they all seem to not even know what curing means. last night a guy told me he cures his weed for a couple days after their dried (in his food dehydrater). hows he cure his bud for those couple days? well he puts it all in a huge plastic bag, puts it in the fridge and leave the bag wide open. i shit you NOT! this is what he says. also he said its mostly cured when he gets it out of the food dehydrater.

I have also heard the MI Clone Zone is infested with mites and 2 buddies of mine who bought from this guy, his name escapes me but hes the owner, said that out of like 20 clones 75% of them had mites that they couldnt quite see at time of purchase:( buuuuumer. Does anybody know of a place or even a single person who has clones for sale? Where do patient buy them in MI besdies Co-ops?

grow from seed or only grow your own clones If you do not know someone trustworthy bottom line....If you go to compassion clubs and meet people its easy to find reliable good people with experience.

Exactly, and that is why people don't understand the discrepancies in pricing. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for!

I'm gonna be honest I think that most of these places will have this happen at one or two times along the way. I think that the damn spider mites are inevitable especially when mothers are involved.

i think it could and should have been prevented. the clones should have been heavily scrutinized with well trained eyes and a magnifying glass before the place released them to the public. in their defense it was their first time ever offering clones, so it was a learning experience, for me as well. again, i'm not trying to stop people from going there, and they said they are going to do everything in their power so it never happens again. as for me, im heading home right now and will get to check my plants tonite. my g/f thinks we have the mites eradicated now. i think im gonna fog the tent just to be safe.

ohhh I completely understand and agree as I also got spider mites from some clones and I should have been checking them myself before buying them and I do agree.

it's seeds for me from now on, im about to put in an order here shortly... according to a friend who has been growing since the law was passed in MI there are a lot of clones going around right now that arent what they are advertised to be. i may as well be 100% sure of my genetics and start from seed.

Potassium bicarb on all clones period even if they are from a trusted source. I do a treatment of all clones with both potassium bi-carb and neem oil on all plants even when they are not showing signs. Better safe then sorry, fuck pests.

Sucks guys.

an infected mom can pass it on to the clones....for some reason it will stay dorment until the right conditions presents itself

I can tell you for a fact a clone i had from 6 inches on... Grand Dad Purple.... was healthy as fuck in veg then 3-4 weeks into flower there it was... I thought it was sheetrock dust....Nope PM

The Grand dad purple passed it on to all my other strains...some strains offer some resistance to mold and pm
