Building a new drying environment & looking for advice

I'm about ready to harvest a Pineapple Express and I'm looking to build a drying chamber. I don't have a free closet or dark area in my house to hang the stalks so I plan on using a television box that I have lying around. Here's what the layout is going to look like:

box.jpg

As you can see by the side view, there are already oval shaped holes in the box on each side towards the top for handles, so my plan was to seal one of them up and then mount the fan in the hole on the other side, with an exhaust vent cut in.

I'm looking for some tips regarding the layout though before I get to constructing it. The stalks will be around 18 inches long after cutting and there will be a few less than what the drawing shows, so will this be a big enough space to dry them effectively? Also if it is, will this small 12 volt PC fan be enough airflow? And lastly, am I mounting the fan in an effective spot to help the drying process or should I mount it elsewhere?

Could always just use cardboard boxes man?
I wouldnt go pointing any fans directly at drying buds either. Not sure how the climate is where you are right now but i've never had to have a fan anywhere near my drying fruits.

sounds like a great idea for a drying box, hell i have grown in a dryer box.. you most deff. want to keep the fan on the exhaust side and not the enter side.. believe it or not you might not need the fan.. cardboard is a natural drying agent just like a brown paper bag. The box will draw the moisture out of the fruits of your labor.. if you can keep a hydrometer in there to see what kind of moisture your getting. good luck on that and let us know the results.. KEEP ON GROWIN..

That's awesome if I don't need the fan at all then. Like I said, I'm a noob and was worried about if I needed to replace the air in the box or not or if it was going to be big enough to dry the buds and control humidity properly. I do have a hygrometer that I plan to put in there as well. Thanks for the advice guys.
