Nice!! Thanks for the info and a showing me down another new alley of lighting styles. Its crazy how much has changed since I grew last, 5 years ago. Its been fun learning about all the new stuff, game changing equipment too! Technology is a beautiful thing. I was shocked at the response my ladies showed when I put some 1818's over them. Those Osram led's are the real deal, interesting indeed. I dig the hybrid setups for sure, consider me team COB-X. Cheers man, hope they veg quick so you can get to the fun part :weed:

Here are a few photos I took while doing the swap..

And here is the garden currently:

Yea, I've been intrigued about LED since I saw the first versions coming out with just 1 red, and 1 blue and watched how fast the industry is progressing. The early reports said say away so I did until technology got better and I can honestly say I wont ever go back to HID... I may use my old Ceramic Metal Halides with LED in the future if I ever get a larger grow area, but I'm definitely a LED fan :)

Yea the Osram SSL's are nice chips.. about 2 years ago I put together a spreadsheet of all wavelength LED's used for growing, all chip companies products that related, along with the datasheet information, and at the time the SSLs were top of the line in efficiency. I don't know if they still hold that title, but they are really good chips. I like the lumen depreciation rating on them as they are prediced to have a LM95 of around 100,000 hours... which is outstanding.

Definitely love the customization of LED's, and I've noticed because of LED tech, the research towards plant lighting has really exploded too :)

I'd have to think those SSL's still rank pretty high, that 50,000hr life number seems to be pretty standard among the variety of LED types. Accuracy is another question altogether I'm sure, but 100k with the SSL's still sets them apart quite a bit I think. I dig that GOD module, the one you have, which is also available on that goodlight site.

I bought the below light before I knew enough (Roleadro "400w"), but it has plenty of power just crappy cobs, so I'm going to switch those out. Im not using it currently until I switch the cobs (I'm using the DIY one with 1818's), BUT now Im considering how I can incorporate a GOD module into this sometime in the near future. I think it can be done relatively easily. And then I'll have a standalone COB module! This stuff is so fun

It uses 4 36v 1.2a drivers ~88% efficiency, cobs are dual array I'm told

Heat load to a closed area is dependent on total wattage draw, so if the wattage used is the same, the heat will be the same (minus the fractional difference in stored energy within the plants).
They run a tad cooler then...... 160 watts v 188 watts for god4
I just thought with the extra fr/ ir in hps BM it would create more heat.
My mate bought 2 BM xg4s, the epi led ones.
The same or similar leds that Platinum use, i think, and after checking out both sites the Platinums give better value for the money.
He now runs 2 BMs + a platinum p600 + 4 x 660 watt hps.
I really like the Budmasters and the way you showcase them with your impartial videos .
The Amares look a great light too.
I went the diy root myself with the cobs because they gave me more bang for the buck compared to a ready made led/les light.
When I purchased my cxb3590s they were the expensive flagship of cobs but now with all the research that's been done on RIU, there are lots of cheaper options available.
Access to good passive Heatsinks is my problem which is why I use Arctic Alpine active sinks.
I think I'm super addicted to diy cobs now! Lol

Have you seen the quantum boards?

Have you seen the quantum boards?
Yes, I've been following the Quantum board threads.
They look a great option.
I have a big lump of aluminium about 12mm thick that would take 3 to 4 of those boards.
Post and packaging from the States is holding me back from getting them lol.
Where I am there are few options available to get parts at a reasonable price although ebay are starting to sell Citizen cobs - I bought 5 1212s for £40 a while ago.
A really good deal.

im in the uk, i think P&P for 4 boards, 4 heatsinks n wires was 60 quid. if you source the drivers and heatsinks in the uk then it'll be cheap P&P? mine ship in a couple days. They look mighty impressive ,im pretty excited!

Nice wan.
I have a few mates who use hps that are looking into the led option so might be interested in a bulk buy of stuff to keep price down.

I have used Budmaster and like their leds. I also have spoken to Paul a few times and he is a top bloke, who goes out of his way at his own expense for his customers! His values and warranty are as solid as oak!

If the UK government were Not such a bunch of greedy twats, that want too much back from small businesses, then the small business owners in the UK wouldn't change the owner name so much lol Snakes or Not, it ain't their fault! lmao

There is this car washing place near me. They make a fucking fortune, then go bust in March, then nobody is there then for a few weeks, Then straight after the new tax year starts in April, it opens again under new management! lmao

In the UK we have grown northern and Budmaster. I'll take a Budmaster any day of the week!

Paul is Not a snake! I believe his panels are made by marl in the UK.

Even the xg versions were split where they were made. 1st gen made somewhere else, 2nd gen made in the UK. I know this as he upgraded a 300xg for free of charge for me about 2 years ago to 2nd gen xg!

Again only a nice business would do something like that!

I like the xg range and am also impressed by @lukio cob grow.

I wanted so much a Budmaster few years ago. How can you even compare prices? BM too expensive ... they charge 1400$ + for 450w?
GOD = 1900$ - 450w
HPS = 1537$ - 450w
COB = 1410$ - 450w
OD = 1537$
Ohhh an there we have the XG at 1000$ (the oldest?)

What am I missing here?
Amare sells 900w with 2000$ ... this was the main reason I chose Amare over Budmaster. 2x power, same money, good build. We can even assume that Budmaster is a better build or has a better spectrum etc (witch I doubt), would it be that good?
Does anyone think that a G.O.D. will match a Pro9? ... the cost is the same, right?

I have a 50w cob-x, but I accidentally dropped it from a height of 11 inches and now it won't work. I tried opening the driver to see if it was broken, but it was filled with some gray stuff. Too bad, seemed like a nice seedling light.

IF the driver is banjaxed look at the cob-x data sheet and buy a new driver.
50v - 70v
600ma
I'm sure if you contact Budmaster they'll sort you out though
