in CA with 10+. First offense, what kind of punishment do you think he'll get. And he knows a lot about a lot of people. Any advice?

When you say 10 plus are we talking pounds ?

He's fucked no matter how you slice it,if he has posessions & bank accounts along with the ability to pay fines & bullshit fee's for the next 5 years he'll get probation.

Unless he gets a judge with a hard on or its election time, then all bets are off.

Cali doesnt have the funds or space to keep anyone that long. Just have him act as white and sorry as he can, and go to a rehab clinic for 90 days. The judge will let him off with 2 yrs probation.

once again, you are dealing with cali. the state has much bigger things going on than what you buddy is doing with ten pounds. I bet he got caught on a fluke.

Speeding, drunk, with 10+ pounds of weight?

What the fuck?!

That's not random bad luck, that's begging for it.....

I've never had to deal with that much weight, just about the only time I've ever felt threatened is dealing with agricultural checkpoints coming into California, not leaving it.

It's not a mystery. You wear fucking khakis and a sport shirt. You keep some inoffensive music handy so the hypothetical traffic cop doesn't get an earful of NWA. You don't get high in the car. You don't speed, or drink. You keep your tags right, walk around the car when you get back on the road after stopping for meals gas or the night and make sure that all your lights and indicators work. If they're legal in your state, get a radar detector.....

for the truly paranoid, there are scanners.

It's just sad when people get busted when they didn't have to.

Well, it's a little more complicated than that. It's definitely not a license to 'sell weed' in the eyes of the law--even for dispensaries. They aren't selling weed, they are collectives that dispense medication and are permitted to collect a fee to 'cover their costs' (as far as I know.) Ten pounds--I'm not sure how many patients you'd have to be providing for in order to have that much quantity covered by 215.

The statewide "safe harbor" floor is:

To be as safe as possible from arrest and prosecution, patients and caregivers should stay below the medical marijuana immunity law passed by the California legislature, HS 11362.77, which sets a minimum statewide guideline of 6 mature plants OR 12 immature plants AND up to 8 ounces of processed cannabis flowers. Physician's note exempts larger amounts. Cities and counties empowered to set guidelines that are greater than those amounts, but not less.
Local jurisdictions may decide to allow higher caps, and there is still an affirmative defense of medical necessity even if exceeding the guidelines--but it's a long way from 8 oz. to 10 pounds.

Someone actively involved in supply of dispensaries could probably shine more light on the question, there are other rules that come into play there, but I've only spent enough time to make sure what I'm doing at home is safe.

No shit. Reminds me of the days when I smuggled steroids across the Mexican border. Some bodybuilding friends of mine didn't take my advice and crossed, bought an assload of 'roids, packed them into the door panels, came back into the US w/ nothing to "declare"...Customs Officer sees a car load of huge bodybuilders declaring nothing...They got searched and busted. They deserved it.

you don't get a liscense to carry around 10 lbs of weed. you don't get probation for carrying around 10 lbs of weed. you don't drink and drive. period. :blsmoke:

california is not a free state. there are laws that "protect" medical patients but people don't just run arounds with car loads of pot and call it a good day. if you don't have a medical card your just as fucked as any other state. if the feds decide to step in then you have no chance. :peace:
