Buddies, side-light and under-canopy LEDs

I got these off LED Teknik a while ago. They are strings of 20x 0.72W fully enclosed LEDs with diffusers. Teknik calls them "Buddies" and I've got 4000K and phosphor-coated red. Each string is about 15W, so I have a 60W Osram driver driving four strings of Buddies which are simply stuck to the inside of my 4x2 tent using the included 3M adhesive patches on the LED housings.

Here they are with a couple of new Hazes in some coco pots.

The Buddies get a couple more friends a few days later. These are Blue Heaven x SAGE.

Those look good. Overmoulded. Real led porn. The young haze and Blue Heaven x SAGE look very African in shape and form at this stage.

How is performance and transmission with those diffusers? Has he produced data sheets for them?
Is there a clear option, or hasn't that idea been considered worthwhile?

Could be an option to consider for a clone/ seedling/ bonsai mother cabinet, as well as supplement side lights. Nice.

What's the wavelength of the phosphor coated reds?

Can't wait to see how those buddies do for you. Teknik sent me some to play with. I am thinking I will stick them back to back and string them on the inside of one of my trees like Christmas lights. Get some light down in there where nothing else can get to.

I've made a cloning box out of them but the light is pretty strong and it was a bit too much to clone in summer. I did manage to strike most clones, but the box was hot. However, it should work well in winter when it's colder.

I was thinking of larger space. Think you could stretch the string out and do bit more ? Hehe, I can imagine it was nice and warm.
The white has a good spectrum, that traditional dip at 480nm is not so pronounced. Seems quite worthy even at 2.08µmol/J. Very sunlike like.

Here's the 4000K CRI95

Here they are combined 1:1

I found a test report for the 4000K but I don't have one for the PC Red. This shows the wide beam angle (160 degrees) from the diffuser

Nice and wide. The reds look like the perfect way for someone who's curious to try out some added 660nm, without having to alter the build of their primary fixture. Color me intrigued.

We will be stocking these when they are in production. I believe LEDTEKNIK has given out a few samples to growers to try out so that he can get some feedback. I know there are other colours in the pipeline, including Far Red. These are IP65, which means you can mount them almost anywhere and not worry about them getting wet. They aren't the most efficient on the market, but that's a consequence of the sealed housing and diffuser. The diffuser lens enables the plants to grow right into the lights without burning. Also, the strings are wired in parallel so that you can cut them anywhere to suit and run them off a constant voltage driver (like the one I believe @Prawn Connery is using). I'm not sure if Prawn mentioned or not, but they are 24V.

Retail pricing will be very reasonable. At this stage it is as follows, although this might change as the Aussie dollar has just taken a big hit against the US dollar (our prices in US$ have come down significantly in recent weeks).

So @Prawn Connery have you just implemented these or are there any other journals of them being used? I wonder being SUCH low wattage how much they'd help?
We all just got them within the last 2 months, havent been much logged yet, i doubt any crops are finished since they started using them. Theres a couple that are close, but they are journals on a private forum, so no way of viewing sorry.

Teknik gave a bunch of us the buddies to try/test, i dont think they are available yet.

These looks sweet I’d be interested too. Been considering side lighting tough lately.
So they come pre wired in a string of 20? How long is each set? Would we be able to wire them up so they’re alternating white/red and is there an estimate when they’ll be ready
