Fan leaves are solar panels for the plants they store the energy the plant gathers, Try to avoid cutting them off just bend them behinde buds.

can we see a pic of the whole plants? ill bet their stretching real bad, that would cause small individual buds rather then a large stalk of buds.

If they look healthy DONT TOUCH THEM !!! Dont worry about the light bein blocked by leaves. The leaves are what do the work. Do you think a big ass tomatoe sucks all the sun to grow? No, it's fed by the plant itself and without leaves, you got no plant for the most part.

Bud is like a pregnant woman, week 7 and 8 in an 8 week strain is where you see them bulge, just like a woman at 8 or 9 months.

When do the buds swell?

at day 30 you should have your colas and buds mostly formed then they fill in and plump up through the next 30 days. different strains will plump more then others and at different stages of their life as well.

yeah its too late for the fan leaves. i cut most of them off because, this being my first grow i planted two plants where there was only room to grow one, and then on the advice of a friend just cut about 70% of the rest of them off! i will get pics later. dont laugh though. these plants have been through alot.

the berry white is on the left and the og is on the right. the og had a light fixture fall on it and break it in half, but i have kept it going.

IMG_0080.jpgIMG_0082.jpgIMG_0083.jpgI've got a week left till harvest and i chopped a lot of my fan leafs off. of course here are pictures of the ones i took off....

I think people are right when they say if its still pretty green leave it on there. As you can see mine were yellow and parts would crumble to the touch. When they get like that probably not much use for them :)

You REALLY want to think about addititonal lighting for lower down, upgrading the current light, or keeping their height down. The 400w is not going to penetrate enough to do the lower part of the plant any justice.

this is so true :\ All i have is a 400w for 3 plants. and while they look nice up top, the buds on the inside (close to stem hidden by leafs) and the lower buds are puny and barely mature :(
i know some say to harvest the top and leave the bottom to keep flowering, but seems kinda odd to me. Wouldn't this stress the plant quite a bit? would it even concentrate on bud production as much as it would repairing the cut from the stem?

Well its already pretty much ready to die anyway. I have done this, and I had no problem with stress the buds were finish within 2 weeks of 1st harvest of top

yeah there was no room for lighting lower down, and there was no light on earth besides the sun that was going to penetrate all those leaves. im working in limited space with limited means. can't really do much more than this. thanks for input.
