I get awesome plants with no bloom boost crap
You can tell how influential the sales folks are by spending time in cannabis forums. Where in the hell some folks get off thinking low N bloom foods will actually increase production is beyond me. Whenever someone starts that bloom pushing stuff, it immediately indicates they don't know or care about botany. Having said that, I guess the reason why your buddies :) include something that cannabis can not use is for the reasons already stated, hah!~

To the Americans, Happy Memorial Day and please honor in some way our own that gave their lives to keep us (and most EU countries, Iraq, etc.) free. As of sunrise, my flag is flying. ;)

Sir Ganja, Master Gadener is a position with the county. Master Gardeners are selected and trained.

Here is the thing about advice from an MG who is on the clock... not only are MG's selected to know their shit.. but an MG cannot give you advice that does not have literature to back it up. So, an MG cannot give you advice based on a feeling or anything that has not been run through the scientific method. In other words, no bullshit from an MG.
Oh I know all about the program...Doesn't mean squat in this situation. A master grower has to be versed in the techniques/products and their use for specific situations, a master grower will be up to date with his info, you are correct in not giving bad advice, but really that's a matter of opinion. From the 80's till now there has been quite a few additions to being a master grower. UB if ever nominated, DOES give bad advise and when questioned its all snake oil! If you don't grow like him your not worth his time, Doesn't like what you say he de-means and banters. Does this sound like a Master Grower...NO! I've been around growing, greenhouses and farming all my life, I know a couple of master growers myself and they don't have the attitude and give advise based on their knowledge base not their own opinion, which is exactly what UB does. He is not up to date, uses 20 year old techniques, Has not done any research on new product lines for years. When was his last class? Has he updated his background since he was nominated(if at all). The face of horticulture has changed since the 80's and UB has not. If a Master Gardener Can't give bad advice then UB ISN'T even close.

Idk but saying "my roots are bigger but the plants aren't different" makes a person sound Corky special. I'm no MG but in,my ignorant world root mass and plant health and vigor are hand in hand. While a member of the anti-snake oil camp I have recently witnessed amazing flower growth on a cycle of roots 707 and flora nova bloom to finish. My pal tired of growing half my yield of equally tasty buds added the bloom to his long 707 routine. I'm still waiting but I'm gonna say well over an elbow minimal Veg under 400,almost tripled his avg with 7tsp.

are you basically saying that in a side by side ....
(1)Roots Organic 707 formula soil
(2)Roots Organic 707 formula soil + Flora Nova Bloom nutrients

... 2 performed much better than 1?

Yes, stupid results. Same everything drain to res. on a timer 3x? daily. We've had the same strains for over 4yrs. He always had real tastey results just lacked weight. Good thing I wasted my last 2 runs attempting to eradicate pm with non-systemic organic fungicides, uvc lighting etc. Any thoughts on homemade lactobacillus?

^ I'm confused about what that side by side proves... formula 707 is a soil mix with very little nutrients added. It seems that adding a fert and getting increased yields would be the obvious.

I used to have it out for you like you do UB. But as I bumped into your posts in other areas I saw that on lots of topics you do know things and share accurate info. I really wish you could see past his cantankerousness for you will find he does know and has kept up. If you knew what UB does right now you would freak out. And he couldn't be there without knowing his shit.

Not sure what you mean by "accurate info". Sure, everyone gets it right once in a while and with good genetics, it's easy to grow this sub-tropical weed. Compared to what I'm doing now cannabis is not challenging, it's boring and mundane.

To me, lollipopping and buying AN products is not accurate or smart and he buys into both noobie practices. NO seasoned bonafide horticulturist, professional nurseryman, farmer, uses AN products or any other cannabis specific products which are designed, scripted and hawked as a pot smoking sucker bet.

And KH, when I loosely threw out that term that we are master gardeners, I mean we know horticulture, not necessarily that you're a certified Master Gardener by the state of Colorado as I simply don't know. I was certified by the State of Texas back in the 90's, Aunt Benita too. Also hold a Texas certified pesticide applicator's license. The State of Texas doesn't hand out free samples of these licenses like the snake oil folks hand out free samples of their watered down rocket fuels. You have to work for them.

For example.....

Oh I know all about the program...Doesn't mean squat in this situation.
This is exactly one of those blunders that spews out of this moron's mouth. To say that the botanical principles learned in a Master Gardener's class for 4 long months doesn't translate into growing better weed is ludicrous. It's called 'botany' shit-fer-brains, but for one so hooked on labels and snake oils, your attitude is understandable.... and predicable.

You just don't get it.

Change gears. Yo KH, just foliar sprayed all my weak grapevines with 1/2 tsp./gal. of Foliage Pro. Surfactant used was Surf-King, my favorite BUT now very expensive. Sold by the large ag conglomerate Winfeld Solutions. You probably have a rep in your area.

Oh i know UB...I was humbly appreciative of the compliment...yes I know what makes plants tick...was just hoping to open his eyes as he does have some awareness and if he could just get over his hate for you he could learn more and share things with us all that will help...trying to stop the bickering and get back to learning and sharing

Well no shit I guess, my knowledge on 707 consisted of the high dollar price and tastey low maintenance buds. Your one of those 20 minute 3 sentence joke wiseguys aren't ya?

Just continue what you're doing and keep checking the trichs. Most growers wait for 30% to 50% amber as a sign of when to harvest.
I would disagree with 1) yellowing means your plant is almost done and 2) 30-50% trichs is a good point to harvest.

After much experimenting... your ideal time to harvest is 100% cloudy trichs. You'll never actually get 100% cloudy, but as close to it as possible will give you the most potency, in general, most plants.

Yellowing just means you have a deficiency or lockout of some sort. Or, your lights are very close. (Not saying TOO close, but very close.)
With the trichs... I can assure you I speak the truth. Every plant I keep as a mother... I try them out 10 days before 100% cloudy and 2 weeks after 100% cloudy... With 12+ week sativas I try it out even longer.

When you get into sativas the rules get shaken up... but with a hybrid.. 100% cloudy is the most ideal and highest potency you will get.

That said... it's all preference and when you have time to get it done... These days, my harvest date has more to do with my work schedule than it does with what the trichs look like.

Great points.

Said it before, with seasoned growers when to harvest is an art, a judgement call. There is no perfect time as you have a window of about 2-3 weeks regarding optimum potency. Mel Frank has this all described based on lab analysis in his book, complete with graphs. Like I said, it's an art, a feel based on expererience, and I can read a plant (not looking at trichomes color either) and tell when it's about done. My main criteria is:

1. Calyxes are plump and new production is coming to a halt as are the production of trichomes,

2. Trichome production is about shut down so the 80% brown, 20% fresh is about right for me.

3. If "bananas" or incomplete males are thrown - definately time to pull her. By then calyx and trichome production should be about over.

Unlike popular opinion usually held by noobs who embrace forum blind leading the blind paradigms centered around the flushing myth and use of bloom foods - if you have premature leaf drop, yellowing, ya done fukked up.

KH, don't know how far you go back, like posting to the biggies of CW or OG, but if you did, you'll definately get a kick out of this - https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/222531-c99-story.html
