Bud dryer: Cardboard box or plastic?

I'm about to harvest one of my two plants, it's ready ahead of the other. Should I hang it in a cardboard box, or a rubbermaid? Should I hook up a pc fan to keep airflow? Better to hang or put on mesh sheets or a rack of some kind?

I've been reading all kinds of posts about drying and curing, so I was thinking the two steps were: Chop and hang for 2 weeks or so, then manicure (or manicure bit by bit as it's drying) and throw it into curing jars for at least a month. Sound basically right?

Check out Al's bud dryer I use pretty much the same thing but with out the heat sink. :peace:

I've read a lot that drying and curing are very important elements to the process, and that it aids in the breakdown of chlorophyls and increases potency and improves flavor. Why would I want to dry and smoke inside a three day period then? Hard to know what to think

Well I can't have tons of bud lying around for weeks slow drying and honestly I have not seen too much difference between buds in my bud dryer and the same stuff hung to dry for weeks. Old bud reduces in potency (THC breaks down over time) but after a long curing time it does smoke a bit smoother. Its really up to you but to be honest I don't think you would be able to tell the difference between your slow dried bud an the stuff that comes out of my dryer. Same moisture content not too dry and not too wet :peace:

Could I use the dryer and then cure for a few weeks? Would I stop drying a little sooner in that case?

Rep+1 for all the help dude!

So you have found, basically, that the difference between hang drying for days and days versus a faster bud dryer finishing in 3 or 4 days is negligible? In either case, once the bud is properly dry, into curing jars (or not if one is in a hurry!) Pretty much no difference and it'll cure the same either way?

Just my opinion, Al B will tell you the same thing and he is the one with that built the dryer in the Grow FAQ. Lots of old school guys will gripe and say you have to slow dry it but I have to move product and I have never had a complaint about my product.

This is for my personal stash, nothing else, so time isn't quite as crucial for me. Have you tried slower drying times and longer curing times for yourself? Notice ANY difference?
