Bud and trichomes under sugar leaves relatively undeveloped

So I'm growing under vero 29 cobs, 3 3000k 90 cri mixed with 3 3500k 80 cri top down lighting (just added some minor side lighting), currently running at around 260 watts down from around 440 watts (was burning my plants) at around 14 inches. Anyway, all the leaves that you can see top down and bud parts are purple and filled with trichomes. The plant is almost done, so I took down one branch and trimmed and dried it. Underneath the sugar leaves the bud is lime green with trichomes that are not fully developed and cloudy/clear on the ones that are developed (have the mushroom head). So what I did on a few branches that are still there is I cut a bunch of the sugar leaves off and exposed the buds to light just today. I'm hoping I don't burn them and that it's late enough in flowering that I won't lose too much from the leaf loss itself but I'm trying get the areas that didn't get direct light to get more developed and cloudy trichomes. Is this crazy? I did this on about half the tops and left the other half untouched.

Guess I'll find out in a week if the bud tissue starts burning but it's driving me crazy to know that I'm going to trim this plant at harvest of all the sugar leaves that have wonderful resin and trichome development and less resin and trichome development on the buds that I'm actually keeping. If I wait and keep them covered I know the buds not exposed to light will develop a bit more but the parts that have been exposed to light are pretty much done right now, with a good amount of ambers, and thats all on the same bud site separated by sugar leaves.

It's an indica with decently large leaves and it's been defoliated of a lot of fan leaves already (left a few with more as a control) and the buds on this are pretty small but I attribute that to poor genetics since it came from bag seed. I didn't take any photos of my sugar leaf massacre tonight but heres one taken the other day. https://imgur.com/a/v2UeyGE Can post more pics tomorrow after lights come back on

TLDR: Bud under sugar leaves has trichomes much less developed than the same bud site where it is exposed to light (and those parts are pretty much done). Trimmed half of my tops of sugar leaves (although not all the way around) to see if those areas develop more. Crazy? Yay Nay?
