Bubble hash. What is it?

I try not to let anything go to waste, so I try to do something with my popcorn and trim. I've gotten pretty good at making potent cannabutter, and have used it in brownies and cookies. But I hate the taste, I mean it literally makes me gag, and it's hard to know the dosage because each batch is different. I've tried making hash using various methods, with occasional success, and when it turned out good I really liked it. So I got some cheap bubble bags to see if I could get consistently better hash. The screens are 220, 160, 120, 73, and 25 microns. I used about 1.5 oz of bud and shake, made up of ice, ak-47, and super skunk. Mixed it with ice and water, stirred for 20 minutes, and filtered it through the bags. I got some good looking stuff in the 160, 73, and 25 bags. The 120 had some chunky, ugly looking plant material there, so I discarded it. I scraped out the hash in the 160, 73, and 25 screens and dried it out using the pressing screen and some paper towels. I let it dry for a few hours, then rolled them into balls, keeping each one separate. I got between 3 and 4 grams total. There's definitely some plant material in the 160 micron hash, but its good. It's light brown with some green, tastes like hash, and its potent. The 73 micron hash is way more pure and its a nice dark brown. The flavor is better and the high is more on the sativa side. The 25 micron hash is very pure and very dark brown. The smoke is very rich and flavorful and super smooth out of my little pipe. Both the 73 and 25 micron hash bubble nicely. Ultimately I'm really pleased with the results, and have been smoking away at this hash over the past few days.

But what's the difference between the hash on the different screens? The purity seems to go up, but are there differences in the trichomes on the different screens? The 73 micron seems the most potent and is my favorite. The 25 micron is super smooth and tasty, but is a weird creeper that puts me right on the couch.

no but you did complain about taste in your brownies, oil makes the best tasting brownies in fact it makes the best edibles

and what is happening as the screen size gets smaller is you are getting more of just the trichrom heads, instead of the trichrome stalk and some plant matter

yeah the answer is in matt rizes thread. you can even try posting there and asking him.. watch out though. some days hes quite the crybaby.

it something like each screen catches different sizes... the larger micron catches plant material and trichome stalks like twitch mentioned. (which can still get you pretty damn ripped). as they get smaller... it catches JUST the heads of the trichome (usually around the 45-75 micron bag I believe). and the 25 micron bag sometimes catches the rest, the powder, the small stuff, not necessarily the best though, but it usually pretty good as im sure youve noticed. you can usually tell just by looking at it when youre scraping it off the screen whats going to be the best and whats going to be 2nd place, etc.. it depends on strain and your mixing techniques and how gentle you are. im sure you can get a better answer from a hash guy though.. im an oilhead 8)

and yeah. I hear your point on the edibles. I am picky and got a very strong gag reflex and have had hard times eating the edibles that ive had the chance to try only once or twice in my life. they were hard to eat and I was only able to eat half brownie (barely) and I didnt feel anything. total waste. I dont think it was made with primo material though.

but yeah, post in the stickied thread.
