I was taking a few pics of the party cup for the contest... so I thought I would upload a few pics

I moved a few things around this morning, the baby plant was a male

anyone knows why this yellowing is happening? is it normal? my previous harvest, the plants were in pretty bad shape at harvest time... I wish I could keep my plants green all the way through. I will probably copy subcool recipe next time and see what happens.

I am not sure of the date that I actually flipped to 12/12... thought it was around December 12th... if thats the case the Grapefruit would be at 40ish days, I didnt realise I was so close to Harvest day!! I just saw from the pics I will have to take the microscope out soon and checkit out! buds arent super heavy but man they look delicious!

The conKushion in blue bin#1 doesnt get much of the Blackstar, if any, since quite some time now, and its doing very well... same goes for the Chemo in bin #2 ... the bin#3 has always been behind but it looks very healthy. So I dont dislike the HSS at all, I will need more trial to find out whether or not I will invest in them.

Also I would appreciate any suggestion as to why my fan leaves are going yellow all the time. thanks

I got the blackstar at 12-14 inches now, I thought maybe the yellowing was in fact bleaching, now from looking at the picture without LEDs I dont think it's bleaching at all. should I lowered the blackstar to 8-10inches again or it wouldnt make much difference and its better to play it safe? because the HSS can be 3'' no problem and they use 5W diodes while blackstar uses 3W... if anyone can clear that up for me too that would be great thanks

Endur0xx, yellowing of the fan leaves closer to harvest is normal. The plants are taking up the last of it's nitrogen (thats why it looks like an N def.). It really depends on your nutes and grow style. My 3 part calls for giving my plants Grow nutrients up until 2 weeks into flowering, then stop. I also have some additives that have a little added Nitrogen in them that I use during flowering. Not too much but just enough to prevent discoloration. This just maintains the leave's green lusciousness for a while longer until harvest time, but like I said it's pretty common for late in harvest to see yellowing. Nugs are looking frosty!

As for the bleaching...the panel definitely shouldn't be the cause. 12"-14" above canopy shouldn't cause bleaching especially with a lower/mid range wattage panel. I've gotten my PG260 (actual draw 180w) as close to 8" to my tops with no problems.

dropped the light a little, .. it's all yellowing but its almost ready... it looks to me like my plants are getting ready way faster with LEDs, and I had a small supplemental LED with my HIDs each strain were ready a few days before the prescribed date. Anybody else experiencing the same thing with LEDs? If thats the case its going to influence my decision big time on what I will use next year in my 4x5 room.

I like the vegging a lot, I didnt have the chance to veg much with LEDs yet. But I wasnt talking so much about how big the plants or the buds get but more about how fast the buds are maturing. I cannot wait to start over again after the summer, I should be getting a much better gram per watt ratio next winter! So much power was wasted this winter due to being spread in 2 grow cabinets and 1 small room, ... I made a lot of mistakes when I designed my first dresser ... anyway, my last power bill for a 2 months period was like 350$!! I think that next winter , my goal will be to double my yield for the same power consumption.

I wasted a lot of money on my first too. All mistakes that will never be made again :p. I've actually heard it takes a week or two longer to finish flowering under LED's, but thats just what I've heard. Maybe newer panels are more effective.

Hey EnduroxX, thanks for letting us into your grow. Looks like your gonna have some tasty treats there when you're done.

If I may add to what James said about yellowing, sometimes it's good old genetics too and fighting that battle can be pointless. I can't stand the yellowing at the end of the flowering cycle either and if you're gonna use Sub's soil, I'm assuming you're organic, correct? If so a great product you may want to look into is AZOS nitrogen fixing microbes. This will give you plenty of N going into and thru flowering and will help delay or mostly eliminate the yellow. Cannawizard mentioned it in some post, I checked it out and I've been using it ever since. It's probably a little late to use on your current grow, but you may want to use it in the future. It's not too expensive either.

Also you may want to try to auger your soil a bit. The discoloration may be from poor oxygen supply to the roots. Some of the roots may be in a place in the pot where they can't get any air or some the roots are a little beat up and are doing more harm than good. I get funky discoloration on my leaves from over-watering/poor drainage sometimes, and the first thing I do is auger the soil a bit and the leaves usually rebound shortly after that. Anyway that's my 2 cents. Good Luck with the grow dude.

ok thanks I will look into auger the soil... I was always worry about poor oxygen supply to the roots in the cabinet because the containers are in a plastic bucket that is why I got the fan in the ceiling blowing down recently so that the air get mixed up at the bottom a bit but it's possible that I overwatered as well though, I realised after I harvested my previous plants than when I thought the soil was dry it was in fact still really heavy and wet, the container were so big I would never move them around and feel their weight... anyway,. thanks for the input on the AZOS nitrogen, I will see how it goes when I copy subcool's recipe, trying to stay away from bottled nutes. I have been using EM for microbes along with teas!

A picture of the grapefruit from 60days ago when it seemed like it was taking roots really good beside one from today

blue.jpga22-18.jpg

another before and after here, this was a branch that I had accidently cut and I found it hanging of the plant more than 24 hours later, I rescued it !!! ... it has been an experiment of mine, it was from an unhealthy flowering tangerine dream that was put under 12/12 before rooting... looks like I will get some smoke out of it after all!! picture of it yesterday, and a picture of it 68 days ago!

I just recently put in the room with the 2 400W, ...it was grown strictly with LEDs prior to that, .. I know its nothing special, just thought I would mention it!

Happy Growing!!

Are you stressing in the garden???? jk......the yellowing is natural as everyone said before.............you will be smoking free meds before you know it....

I started smoking free meds 2 weeks ago :leaf: ... a picture of my current run in the middle, plants won't get nearly as big, they are 12/12 from seeds. I got almost 9oz from 3 plants!

Yes thanks, I learned a lot during this grow and it worked out great! I am looking forward to do a nice scrog with LEDs, it won't be until next fall.

My next grow will be scrog with LEDs... 2 plants in 2x4x5.5 tent. What strains are you going to go with for that? I'm going with DNA Martian Mean Green and Barneys Red Dragon. Can't wait! but it may also take some time to get going...

BTW I always seem to get some yellowing in the leaves at the late stages of flowering... I never worry about it much, although I wish it had been purple this time :P

I am not gonna worry at this point, its almost ready... but the other 2 in that container arent doing so well either... well the conkushion was always shitty but its probably the frostiest bud, too bad its so small... again I dont know if its because the plant had a tough life, but it looks like it will be ready way ahead of the other conkushion next to it.

I am not sure what strain I will grow next, it depends on the Chemo really, so possibly chemo, and I want to give another go at super lemon haze
