Bridgelux EB Series Build

This is the frame I made for my EB's. Since then I changed out the gen 1's to gen 2's and added a few more to what I had. I only have a small 12 mm fan sitting on top and the frame is never more than warm to the touch at 1050ma. Since this is just babies and veg I usually run it at half of that. Frame is made of 2" x 1" aluminum. I joined it together using threaded rod and 1 inch spacers.

Guys I have to choose between these tent options:
2x1.3x2ft
1.3x1.3x2.6ft

I grow scrog or sog.
With 1ft strips driven at 350mA how close can I keep lights to plants? Any experience?

rare earth magnets attached to back of strips via kapton tape, slapped up in the corners and 1 on either side. Running off of 1 HLG-185H-A 48V driver. I haven't tested it (my kill-a-watt broke), but it should be pulling roughly 160W (40V X 4A). the plants are badly neglected and in horrible shape, but that is not because of these lights :) Popping seeds today to get a fresh start.

I am going to run 20 4ft eb gen.2s in a 4x24text. Looking to eventually have a perpetual grow. Should I mix up 3000k & 5600k? Or just use 3000? What is the part number for the 4ft strips? Is it BXEB-L1120Z-30E4000-C-B3 for the 3000k? Also what driver should i get?

how do the diodes like the magnets ?

@Randomblame is very knowledgeable on lighting and I believe he recently suggested 3000k. I'm not sure if he likes a 3000k and 5000k mix, I know some growers do. Opinions vary, but I don't think it makes a huge difference. Yes, BXEB-L1120Z-30E4000-C-B3 is 3000k.

Unfortunately digikey has EBgen.2 only in 3500 and 5000°k in stock. You need to order 100 or 200+ strips of the other spectrums.
I would recommend to use 3500°k only because it's a perfect all-in-one spectrum.

That's all EBgen.2 strips, next delivery is announced for 03/30, but I think they will ship sooner:

At 350ma you can be touching the plant.
That‘s not correct! 350ma is the nominal current of the 1ft strips. I had the gen1 running @180ma in my veg cab, and didn‘t looked for the plants like 4 days. In this time some mother plants were growing into the strips. They all had burnt dots on the leaves. But when they touch each other just for a day, than there wasn‘t any damage.

3“-10“ was working for me.
I am really limited in height and I can only fit a 3ft tent max. I still have to decide between EB strips or lm561b/c pcb from china since I am EU based, total price is similar.

Probably I have to go with 12-14 (2ft) strips @0,5A max since I don't have much vertical space, I hope it is enough to not stress plants much with 5-10" between tops and strips

Check out my thread (signature). Definitly EB strips!

For the same money you get 1 F strip, or 2 EB strips. 3x more diods and you can spread them twice as good. Especially with such a small space I would go with EB strips, because there won‘t be any interesting price bulk.

Yes it is correct, I didn't state how long you can leave them touching but merely that they can touch them. I've had plants touching my strips at much higher current. Obviously you don't want to leave them like that but my point was that at 350ma if your plant grows up quickly and actually touches the light, your plant will be fine. Of course it will depend on what strain you have, some are more resilient than others. I think what people want to know is if the plant touches the light that it's not going to be burnt like cobs do to plants. Strips are much more forgiving, especially when run at 350ma.

I like EB strips more cause I can get a better coverage than Samsung strips. I am just worried I am missing something... Tent will be 1.6ft(deep)*2.3ft(wide)*2.9ft and I am thinking of setup made of:
HLG-120H-20B (10-20v, 6A)
12x 2ft(560mm) eb strips gen2 3500k
Dim down to ±100w
Probably too many strips but I want to drive them soft because flowers will grow close to the light fixture I suppose.
I am also thinking to add some 660nm and 730nm diodes since I am already using them and I like it.

I did never see your grow thread and I have to admit it is really cool how you did setup your grow!
